Parent-Teacher Conferences
Here are a few tips to help you get ready for a successful parent-teacher conference:
Prepare in Advance: Take some time before the meeting to review your child’s work, grades, and any communication from their teacher. Write down any questions or concerns you may have.
Be Open and Honest: Share insights about your child’s strengths, challenges, and behaviors at home. This helps teachers better understand your child as a whole.
Ask Specific Questions: Inquire about academic progress, social interactions, and behavior. Some good questions include:
- What are my child’s strengths and areas for growth?
- How do they interact with their peers?
- What can I do at home to support their learning?
Focus on Partnership: Approach the meeting as a team effort. The goal is to support your child’s development, so work together to create strategies that benefit them.
Listen and Take Notes: It’s easy to feel overwhelmed, so jot down important points during the conversation to review later.
Follow Up: After the conference, follow through with any agreed-upon actions, and stay in touch with the teacher to monitor progress.
Keep It Positive: Celebrate your child’s successes, no matter how small, and approach challenges with a growth mindset.
These conferences are a great opportunity to strengthen the home-school connection, and your involvement plays a key role in your child’s success!

Bully Prevention Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, a dedicated time to raise awareness and educate others about the impact of bullying. Established in 2006, this initiative focuses on fostering kindness, acceptance, and inclusion to help prevent bullying among children. At Springdale K8, we proudly embody our Charger values of being safe, respectful, and responsible. Let’s use this month as a reminder to look out for one another, spread kindness, and create a welcoming environment for all. Together, we can make a difference!
Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior by an individual or group that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. It is often repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time. Bullying can cause harm or distress in various ways—physically, emotionally, socially, or academically. It can also take place online, known as cyberbullying, where hurtful messages or actions are shared through electronic devices.
There are three main forms of bullying: physical, verbal, and social. Verbal bullying includes teasing or deliberately excluding someone from a group to hurt them emotionally.
Bullying can happen to anyone, which is why it’s crucial to recognize the signs, whether someone is being bullied or engaging in bullying behavior. At Springdale K8, we commit to our Charger values of being safe, respectful, and responsible to ensure that every student feels supported and valued.
Charger Assembly
At this month's assembly, we celebrated our amazing students who showed outstanding RESPECT throughout September! The whole school had a blast playing a spirited game of Rock-Paper-Scissors, and we kicked off our important October theme: Bullying Prevention. Let's keep up the positive energy and continue being safe, respectful, and responsible Chargers!
Bully Prevention Month
If you believe your child is experiencing bullying or may be involved in bullying others, please contact Mr. Joachim, K8 Principal or Ms. Gintz, K8 Counselor at 258.4730, or contact a social worker as soon as possible.
We're here to support you!
October's Character Trait
This month we are talking about Responsibility. One way to define Responsibility is “taking action and understanding the impact of our choices.” Taking action can mean doing the right thing or completing the tasks you have been assigned. Understanding the impact of our choices means that our actions matter. Positive and responsible actions can help people and irresponsible actions can hurt others.

ACADEMICS
Being Prepared for Class

Students will assist teachers in promoting a teaching environment so all students can learn.
All children will be considerate to self, to others, and to property.

Progress reports will be sent home at the end of each quarter. Students' academic progress may be tracked through student Skyward access or by contacting classroom teachers.
Homework Help Opportunities
There are multiple opportunities for students to access their teachers during the course of a school week.
Solutions Room – Open during lunches and as needed by students, is a quiet place for students to get ahead on their studies or catch up on missing work. Students are encouraged to seek additional help.
Student Access Fridays - On many Fridays, academic support will be available from 8:30 to 11:30.
Advisory Time - This is a great time for students to connect with a partner to work on projects and/or power focuses.
