Springdale K8 Community Memo
Some thoughts for the start of the school year...
Dear Charger Families,
Welcome back! As we gear up for another fantastic school year, our commitment to helping every student achieve their best remains at the forefront. We are dedicated to creating a safe, nurturing environment where your children can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
This year, we’re focusing on building engaging relationships with our students in ways that spark their curiosity and creativity. Our classroom teachers are eager to inspire inquisitive minds and encourage each student to explore their unique talents and interests. Through hands-on learning, thoughtful discussions, and innovative projects, we aim to make learning both meaningful and fun.
Over the summer, our custodial staff worked tirelessly to ensure our building is spotless and ready for a fresh start. Meanwhile, our maintenance crew successfully managed several key projects, including the gym remodel, new painting, and carpet replacement. The results are outstanding—our school looks fantastic and is ready to welcome our students back.
Our team has also been preparing to support your children beyond academics. We’ve engaged in extensive professional development, including training in CharacterStrong and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports). With CharacterStrong, we’ll be focusing on building character traits like empathy, responsibility, and perseverance. PBIS will guide us in creating a positive, respectful school culture, with clear expectations and supports to help all students succeed.
Our entire staff is eager to connect with your children and guide them through another year of learning and achievement. We believe that by fostering a supportive and challenging environment, we can help every student reach their full potential.
I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday!
Warm regards,
Brett Joachim, K8 Principal
Mary Walker School District
School Improvement Plan
Here's a visual representation of our school improvement plan for the 2024-25 school year. We're excited about the positive changes ahead and the opportunities they'll create for our students and community!
We will continue to use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to foster a healthy school environment by setting clear expectations and building strong connections with our students. This week, students will review how to be safe, respectful, and responsible at school. They’ll also learn about earning Charger Cards as part of our positive reinforcement system. Most importantly, our staff will be actively seeking opportunities to help students develop their social and emotional skills.
Below are the core principles of our school rules.
