Meet Mr. John Hewlett - AP Admin Substitute
Dear SVE Cheetahs,
I have had the privilege of serving as an educator for over twenty-five years, most recently as a substitute administrator, where Iāve had the opportunity to assist AISD students and staff at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Before this, I served as the principal of Russell Lee Elementary School for eight years.
In 2022, my wife, Allie, and I embarked on an unforgettable journey around the world with our three children. Over the course of more than a year, we visited fifty-five incredible countries, experiencing a wide variety of cultures and perspectives. Upon returning to Austin, I continued my strong commitment to public education, focusing on meaningful projects related to outdoor learning and social-emotional educationāareas Iām deeply passionate about.
When Iām not collaborating with students, staff, and families, Iām working on a book that chronicles our Great World Adventure.
Student Drop Off Procedures
To ensure a smooth and safe start to the day, parents are not permitted to walk students to their classrooms. If you're late, please check in at the front office, and a staff member will escort your child.
Additionally, please refrain from checking in as a volunteer when dropping off your child to minimize classroom disruptions.
Thank you for helping us maintain an efficient and focused start to the school day!
Important Traffic Updates and Reminders for Dismissal Pickup
New Dismissal Procedures Starting in January
Thank you for your continued support in ensuring a safe and efficient dismissal process. To address traffic issues during pickup, weāre implementing a new procedure:
- If you arrive before 3:10 PM, you may pull into the circle drive once buses have entered and after-school vans have arrived.
- This change aims to reduce congestion on Jones Road and improve traffic flow for everyone.
Please be patient as we allow buses and vans to leave first to prevent delays.
Additionally, we remind you to follow traffic laws:
- Do not stop or park in the roadway.
- Avoid parking within 15 feet of fire hydrants or near intersections.
- Do not block private driveways, crosswalks, or traffic signs/signals.
Your cooperation is vital to creating a safer and smoother dismissal process. Thank you!
