May 3rd, 2024 - Pinewood Elementary School

Hello Families!

The weather has been beautiful this week, and kids have been loving playing outside in the sunshine! Our classes have been getting back outside for PE. With the increase in sunshine, comes and increase in our Lost and Found! Please make sure to swing by and see if your child has left a jacket or sweater.

This week we wrapped up our last week of ACE! It was so much fun to see all of the great projects. From needle point, to art, to tie dye, kids has a blast exploring their creative sides! We can't wait to share them all with you at Open House on Thursday, May 16th from 5:30-7:00.

Next week, is going to be very busy! On Tuesday, our 3rd graders get to go on their Farm Day field trip. Here they will learn all about the agriculture of El Dorado County. This is always a fan favorite. On Wednesday, our 4th graders head down to Coloma for 3 days. On Friday, we will be hosting the county Spelling Bee. Super Spellers from across the county will come to our wonderful school to show off their spelling skills. This will likely impact our parking, so make sure you leave extra time to get your kids to school.

Volunteers Improving Pinewood - Congratulations to Janny Roman-Gonzales for earning our VIP Award for the month of April. We appreciate everything you do to help support our students at Pinewood!

Open House - Open House this year will be on Thursday, May 16th from 5:30-7:00. This is an unstructured time for families to walk through the school and their child's classroom to see all of the fantastic things they have been learning this year. Our Book Fair will be open from 5:00-6:30 to allow for parent supervised shopping. We look forward to seeing you there!

TK/K Enrollment - TK and Kindergarten enrollment is now open! Students are eligible to enroll in TK if they turn 5 between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025. Students are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten if they turn 5 on or before September 1, 2024. This process can be started online by clicking here, or by coming into the office to get an enrollment packet. Our online enrollment can also be found on our school website. We can't wait to meet all of our new students!

Parent Teacher Club

PTC will be meeting Tuesday, May 21st @ 2:45pm in Room 2. We are a group of families and staff members who would love your help in planning family-friendly events, awesome assemblies for our kids and finding ways to support and enhance the school community!

Power's Out? School's In!

As the weather begins to change, we typically see an increase in the number of power outages in the area. Keep in mind that we recently installed generators that can operate our entire campus. Even if the power is out in the area, school will likely be in session. If we do cancel school due to a power outage, or for any other reason, we will notify you through all of our schoolwide communication systems.

Yearbook

Hello Pinewood families and staff!

We invite you to help our yearbook team collect photos of all the fun moments and activities this school year. To help enhance the Pinewood yearbook and ensure it is full of meaningful memories for our students, we ask that you please consider sharing photos you take of school related activities/events (while on campus, field trips, sports and other school events). You may email photos to pwyearbook@ppesd.org now and throughout the year. Keep in mind that the yearbook team will be working hard in the spring to complete and finalize our yearbook. The earlier you send them, the better.

Note: While we want everyone to send photos, due to size and layout limitations, we may not be able to include them all. If there is a photo you want to ensure is in your personal yearbook, remember to take advantage of the 2 free custom pages that TreeRing offers when you purchase a yearbook for your family, and include your special photo(s) there.

IMPORTANT: This email is monitored by a parent volunteer, NOT school staff. Do not send questions or content regarding topics other than the yearbook to this email. Please utilize your normal routes of communication with your student's teacher or the office for all other inquiries.
