Sabin's Permanent Principal
May 2024
Dear staff and families:
I am pleased to announce that Michael Diltz will be the new principal of Sabin Elementary School.
Michael is currently serving as the interim principal at Sabin. Previous to that he served as Sabin’s assistant principal for two years, during which time he was instrumental in helping maintain a safe and positive learning environment for all students. He also worked hard to engage families outside of the classroom in an effort to support student achievement and a culture of belonging.
Prior to becoming an administrator, Michael worked as a librarian, math interventionist, and technology teacher at Sabin. He has been a classroom teacher in West Linn, Santa Clara and Riverside school districts. As a librarian, he made it his mission to introduce students to a diverse body of literature and promote early literacy, and constructive and responsible use of technology. He also taught first grade at the Surabaya Intercultural School in Indonesia. In addition to his work in education, Michael worked in the music industry as a recording and live sound engineer in the Bay area.
Michael earned his B.A. in music and psychology and his multiple subject teaching credential from the University of California-Riverside. He also holds an M.A. in media librarianship from Portland State University, and an administrative licensure from Concordia University.
Michael is the proud father of two Grant high school students.
Please join me in congratulating Michael Diltz on being named principal of Sabin Elementary School.
Cordially,
Dr. Jon Franco,
Chief of Schools
