Aldeman: As poverty rises, reading proficiency tends to fall. But it’s not fate. Districts, schools and students nationwide are outperforming what might be expected of them.
See the districts in your state that are outperforming expectations.
"In Yancey County Schools, our well trained, professional teachers do an incredible job everyday of teaching all of our children. Our teachers' high expectations and efforts to teach solid research based reading strategies, increase our students' proficiency scores and make our schools an exceptional public school district in the state and in the nation."
