Wildcat Newsletter
Edition 40: June 12th, 2024
Dear Families and Staff,
We did it! Together we successfully navigated a challenging year with unexpected stops and starts. Your children are amazing and your partnership in our Woodlawn Community is so important to the success of our school.
There is an opportunity for your student to access online apps for learning this summer. If you have a personal device at home that your child can use, we will make sure to send their login information home. If you want your child to access the apps and do not have a device at home, you can borrow one from school. There is a form to complete before a chromebook can be issued to your student. It is a paper form. If you want the form, please email aporter@pps.net and tell me if you want to come in to sign it or if you want me to send it with your child. Once we receive the signed form, we can issue a chromebook. The office is open until June 21st (Closed for Juneteenth on June 19th) and we can distribute chromebooks through that time. The information for accessing the apps is below. The apps will be accessed from our school web page. The web page will be activated once school is out.
Thursday is Field Day, the long-awaited celebration of the skills and collaboration the students have worked on all year. There are water activities and your child may get wet…some will be dripping from head to toe. We encourage you to help your child pack a set of dry clothes to change into after the event. You might even pack them a small towel. This event is supported by volunteers. If you are a cleared volunteer and want to join in on the fun, we could use your time. Set up begins before school starts, the 3rd-5th students play from 8:30-10:30 and the K-2nd students play from 12:15-2:15 and the clean up is 2:15 until it's done. There is a sign-up page outside the gym. Or, you can email Coach Layman mlayman@pps.net to let her know your availability.
We had an amazing visit with Kate Berube, author and illustrator and a Wooldawn Parent!!! Kate shared how she plans for her books and illustrations and the tools she uses. She read from one of her favorite books and answered questions.
Thank you for supporting our teachers and staff through this school year. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with your child. We love what we do and couldn’t do it without your support, partnership and trust.
We hope you have a joyful summer and look forward to seeing most of you in August. Cheers to our fifth graders! We wish them the best in Middle School.
Save the date for our Welcome Back Fair on August 23rd from noon to 3:00 PM. This is a drop in event where your child can meet their teacher, get a backpack and school supplies and meet up with new classmates and old friends.
Our school office will be open until June 21st. If you need information after that time, please email Andrea aporter@pps.net
