Gratitude extends to all the remarkable women in our lives—mothers, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, aunts, stepmoms, godmothers, and guardians. Your guidance, leadership, love, and nurturing have played an integral role in shaping us into the resilient, joyous individuals we are today.
Wishing a heartfelt Happy Mother's Day to each and every one of you!
I hope Teacher Appreciation Week has been a delightful experience for each one of you. To our esteemed teachers, nurses, child nutrition workers, bus drivers, counselors, special area teachers, teacher assistants, secretaries, and all departments and administrators, your dedication to our outstanding students does not go unnoticed. It is your collective efforts that make our school system the best in the state.
We LOVE our Nurses!
MHHS Pre-K Ceremony
Groundbreaking Ceremony for Burnsville Elementary School Addition
In an exciting event for Yancey County Schools and our community, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Burnsville Elementary School addition marks a significant step towards enriching educational opportunities for generations to come. With shovels in hand and hearts full of hope, YCS administration and Board of Education members, Yancey County Commissioners, and representatives from McMillan Pazdan Smith and Harper General Contractors gathered to commemorate the commencement of this transformative project.
The 25,000 sq. ft. addition of 14 classrooms reflects a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of a growing population. As enrollments rise and educational standards evolve, it becomes imperative to invest in infrastructure that can accommodate the demands of a modern educational landscape. The new addition promises not just more classrooms but also specialized spaces designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking among students.
Beyond bricks and mortar, the groundbreaking symbolizes a commitment to education and our community. The new addition will provide opportunity for students and teachers to flourish in state-of-the-art facilities that will help bring Yancey County Schools well into the future.
