May 10th, 2024 - Pinewood Elementary School

Hello Families!

This week, our 3rd and 4th graders finished up their end of the year state testing. While we still have a few make ups to do, we are incredibly proud of the effort put in by our students.

Today, we welcomed back our 4th graders from their Coloma Field Trip. They learned so much and had a great time, but boy did they look tired when they got back!

Over the last few weeks, we have noticed a drastic increase in the number of Pokemon cards and other toys being traded around campus. As a reminder, student should not have toys of any kind on campus, and trading of toys is off limits. Thank you for discussing this with your child.

This coming week, we have our Book Fair. Student will head to the book fair during their weekly library time. Teachers are looking for adults to help kids shop during this time. The book fair will also be open right after school if students are accompanied by an adult. Finally, our book fair will be open at our Open House this Thursday. The hours will be from 5-6:30. This allows for families to shop and still have time to hit all their favorite classrooms.

Open House is this Thursday. Open House is a great opportunity to see some of the great things your kids have been doing this year. Classrooms will be open from 5:30-7:00. We can't wait to see you there!

Open House - Open House this year will be on Thursday, May 16th from 5:30-7:00. This is an unstructured time for families to walk through the school and their child's classroom to see all of the fantastic things they have been learning this year. Our Book Fair will be open from 5:00-6:30 to allow for parent supervised shopping. We look forward to seeing you there!

TK/K Enrollment - TK and Kindergarten enrollment is now open! Students are eligible to enroll in TK if they turn 5 between September 2, 2024 and June 2, 2025. Students are eligible to enroll in Kindergarten if they turn 5 on or before September 1, 2024. This process can be started online by clicking here, or by coming into the office to get an enrollment packet. Our online enrollment can also be found on our school website. We can't wait to meet all of our new students!

Parent Teacher Club

PTC will be meeting Tuesday, May 21st @ 2:45pm in Room 2. We are a group of families and staff members who would love your help in planning family-friendly events, awesome assemblies for our kids and finding ways to support and enhance the school community!

Power's Out? School's In!

As the weather begins to change, we typically see an increase in the number of power outages in the area. Keep in mind that we recently installed generators that can operate our entire campus. Even if the power is out in the area, school will likely be in session. If we do cancel school due to a power outage, or for any other reason, we will notify you through all of our schoolwide communication systems.

Yearbook

Hello Pinewood families and staff!

We invite you to help our yearbook team collect photos of all the fun moments and activities this school year. To help enhance the Pinewood yearbook and ensure it is full of meaningful memories for our students, we ask that you please consider sharing photos you take of school related activities/events (while on campus, field trips, sports and other school events). You may email photos to pwyearbook@ppesd.org now and throughout the year. Keep in mind that the yearbook team will be working hard in the spring to complete and finalize our yearbook. The earlier you send them, the better.

Note: While we want everyone to send photos, due to size and layout limitations, we may not be able to include them all. If there is a photo you want to ensure is in your personal yearbook, remember to take advantage of the 2 free custom pages that TreeRing offers when you purchase a yearbook for your family, and include your special photo(s) there.

IMPORTANT: This email is monitored by a parent volunteer, NOT school staff. Do not send questions or content regarding topics other than the yearbook to this email. Please utilize your normal routes of communication with your student's teacher or the office for all other inquiries.
