Dear Greencastle Community,
The countdown to winter break starts today, it is 5 days away. Here are the weekly updates and some important information.
1. Home-use Acer Chromebook Important Message - Starting December 4, 2024, MCPS will be disabling older Acer model Chromebooks because they have reached end-of-life and should no longer be in use. The models being retired include the Acer C720, C740, C738, and C771.
If your child's home-use chromebook has been disabled, you must return the chromebook and the charger to Greencastle ES. If you wish to request a replacement chromebook from MCPS, you must complete this form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdDNdqO31soXKLffjcEzgVQ9C2Z2koPm6ifKm7-K77e44ZhAg/viewform.
2. Inclement Weather Information - Make sure you know how to receive updates in the event of a weather related delay, early release, or school closure. Visit the MCPS Emergency Information page to learn how to sign up to get notifications for school system emergency messages, district weather closures and more. https://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/emergency/
3. Update your Contact Information - It is also important to stay connected with your child’s school. We want to make sure we can reach you quickly in emergencies or to share important updates. Your contact information is private, will not be shared, and is only used to support your child’s safety. This information can be updated in ParentVUE or via this form.

By the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the percentage of Greencastle students who are chronically absent will decrease from 32% to 27%.
As of Friday, December 13, Greencastle Elementary's current percentage is 20.69% (MCPS is 14.88%.) We DECREASED by 0.86% since last week. Help us to continue to meet and exceed our goal by decreasing the number of students chronically absent.
