Bolt's Bulletin
December 2023
Principal Message
Dear Skyline Families,
As we step into the festive month of December, I am excited to share some updates and extend warm wishes to our cherished Skyline community. December brings with it a spirit of gratitude and celebration. It is a time to reflect on the achievements and growth of our students, appreciate the hard work of our dedicated staff, and express our gratitude for the strong support we receive from our Skyline families.
Our students have been diligently practicing for the Holiday Concert, which will take place on December 1st for our TK, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classes at 5:30pm as well as our 2nd and 3rd grade classes at 7:00pm. On December 4th our 4th & 5th grade students will perform at 5:30pm. Join us for an evening of musical delight as our young performers showcase their talents.
December also marks a time when we reflect on the importance of giving back. Our school community will be participating in our annual Vanessa Behan supply drive, Tree of Sharing, and establishing a new partnership with Childhood Cancer Coalition. We invite families to join us in spreading kindness and compassion during this season of giving.
As we approach the winter break, please note that our last day of school before the break is Tuesday, December 19th. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 2nd. We hope this break provides a well-deserved opportunity for rest, relaxation, and quality time spent with loved ones. When we return we will hit the ground running!
On behalf of the entire Skyline staff, I extend warm wishes for a joyful holiday season. May your homes be filled with laughter, love, and the warmth of shared moments.
Thank you for being an integral part of our school family. As we wrap up this year, let's look forward to the promise of a new one filled with continued growth and success.
Wishing you and your loved ones a December filled with joy, peace, and festive cheer.
Warm regards,
Mr. Erik Olson

Habit 3: Put First Things First
Work First, Then Play!
Highly effective people stay disciplined in achieving their priorities. They:
- Spend their time and energy doing what matters most.
- Say NO to things that are not important.
- Schedule their priorities, then stay true to their plan.
- Make time for their most important relationships.
We call these "BIG ROCKS"! "Big Rocks" are the things that are most important in our lives. "Little Rocks" are tasks or activities that are less important or not important at all. Effective people should schedule their Big Rocks first.
Skyline Gives to Our Community!
Here at Skyline we are fortunate enough to be able to give back to our community. There are a couple organizations that we are grateful for and continue to support. We appreciate your generous support for Vanessa Behan, Childhood Cancer Coalition, and of course our annual Tree of Sharing.
Library Tid Bits
Digital Citizenship
Hello Skyline digital citizens!
Our kindergarten through fifth grade students are working through our digital citizenship units in the library. You've probably seen some activities come home to further our class time discussions. We're exploring what it means to be a digital citizen, why and how to keep their personal and private information safe, what a digital footprint is and the permanence of decisions made online.
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders read and discussed the Mead School District's Digital Citizenship Agreement in class. They are responsible for bringing the agreement home to discuss with an adult and we are requesting parents and students sign and return the agreement to school. Kindergarten, first and second grade students will bring their agreements home before winter break.
Thank you so much for your partnership in ensuring our students are safe, ethical and responsible users of technology in our digital world.

Math is Cool
From the Nurse
As the temperatures drop and inclement weather becomes more frequent, we kindly request your assistance in making sure your child is appropriately dressed for outdoor recess. This includes:
Warm Clothing: Please ensure your child wears a winter coat, hat, gloves, and a scarf. Layers are key to maintaining warmth during the colder days.
Footwear: With snow in the forecast, boots are highly recommended to keep your child's feet dry and warm.
Snow Pants: If there is snow on the ground, consider sending your child with snow pants to keep them comfortable during outdoor activities.
Extra Set of Clothes: Having an extra set of clothes in your child's backpack can be beneficial, especially during wet and snowy conditions.
Label Personal Items: To prevent mix-ups, kindly label your child's outerwear and personal items, including gloves, hats, and scarves.
Ensuring that our students are adequately dressed for the weather will allow them to enjoy recess safely and comfortably. We greatly appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
We are in need of:
- We are in need of girls large and extra large clothing donations.
- Baby wipes
