October 17 is Bus Driver and Monitor Appreciation Day
Monday, October 17 is the annual Bus Driver and Monitor Appreciation Day, recognized statewide as an opportunity to show transportation professionals how much they are appreciated, and how important of a role they play in the lives and well-being of our students. This is a great opportunity to do something on the 17th to show your drivers and monitors just how much they mean to your local school.

GCPS aims to create a school calendar that fosters student achievement, while at the same time meeting the needs of our students, families, and communities. GCPS values your input and feedback on the calendar options for the 2023-24 school year. The survey is open until Oct. 31.

Trickum Middle School Addition Breaks Ground in October
Included in the 2022-2027 eSPLOST Plan, Trickum Middle School will receive a new addition. It is scheduled to be open in August of 2024. The new three-story addition will add an additional 25 Instructional Units and have capacity for an additional 500 Students. This will increase the school’s capacity to 2275 students. Included in the new classrooms will be one JLC (Junior Leadership Corp) classroom, two Computer Science Classrooms, one Music Tech Lab and one Chemistry Lab. There will also be a small renovation project inside of the classroom wing of an existing building. The newly renovated area will include a redesigned Tech Ed classroom, an expanded Band room, a new Art room and a new STEM lab.
The window for enrolling in the State Health Benefit Plan and accessing GCPS’ Online Benefits System opens on Oct. 17 and runs until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4. Eligible employees currently enrolled or seeking to enroll in health insurance should go to the State Health Benefit Plan (SHBP) website at www.myshbpga.adp.com. The GCPS Online Benefits System is available through the employee portal.

The Mandatory Training Deadline is Friday, October 14
Don't forget to complete the mandatory Human Resources and Safety and Security Compliance Training by Oct. 14. Both courses are available in the PD&E section of the employee portal.
Advance voting begins October 17
Local, state, and national races are on the ballot this fall. You can make your voice heard by advance voting Monday, Oct. 17 through Friday, Nov. 4, or go to the polls on election day on Tuesday, Nov. 8. Find information about advance voting locations, drop box availability, and your up-to-date registration status and polling location here.
