Melinda Stinson is a proud 1993 graduate of Brevard High School, where her mother dedicated 25 years of service as a beloved teacher before retiring. After her formative years in Brevard, Melinda spent the past 21 years serving in various capacities within the Winston Salem/Forsyth County Schools. Her career includes extensive roles as an English teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and personalized learning coach, which have equipped her with a comprehensive understanding of educational leadership and student-centered learning.
Melinda’s educational journey includes earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, followed by a Secondary English Education certification from the University of North Carolina Asheville. She furthered her academic pursuits by obtaining a Master of Arts in Executive Leadership Studies from Gardner Webb University.
In describing her leadership philosophy, Mrs. Stinson remarked, "As a leader, I prefer to be a thought-partner and coach, helping teachers explore ways to continue to grow professionally so that they can give their best to students." Her dedication to fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for educators underscores her commitment to enhancing student success.
Outside of her professional life, Melinda is supported by her husband, Ben, a talented metal and wood artist. Together, they have raised two children: Seth, aged 24, and Mikayla, aged 20.
The Brevard High School community warmly welcomes Melinda Stinson back home. Transylvania County JROTC News
Dear TCS families,
MCJROTC (Marine Corps Junior Officer Training Corps) will hold a camp for all returning and incoming cadets. This camp is not mandatory but it is highly encouraged for students to get a head start on the school year. Students are encouraged to attend all four days, but if you can only attend certain days due to family plans that is fine just let SgtMaj (Sergeant Major) Oufnac know and we will plan accordingly. In past years this camp helped incoming freshmen and returning students connect or reconnect to other students before starting the school year.
Where: Brevard High School's old gym
Time: 8:00 am-11:30 am
Dates: August 12-15
Attire: We ask that students wear clothes suited for running, stretching, and conducting basic exercises.
Nutrition and hydration: We encourage students to bring a water bottle and eat a good breakfast. We will provide lunch for the students in our cafeteria every day.
Sports Physical: Starting the 2024/2025 school year all MCJROTC students will be required to have a sports physical.
The focus of this camp is to provide students with a head start in fitness conditioning. We will also review basic daily routines in MCJROTC, issue uniforms, and tour the fall semester classrooms. Our camp will happen rain or shine. If you have any questions now or any time during the school year contact SgtMaj Oufnac at loufnac@tcsnc.org Thank you for your interest, and support of MCJROTC. We are excited and look forward to seeing everyone for camp. Until then enjoy your summer!
RSVP
Please send SgtMaj Oufnac an email before July 16 if you plan to attend so the school can plan on supporting lunch requirements.
