Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Families,

Happy New Year and welcome to the 2022 portion of our school year! We are obviously off to an unexpected start, with three snow days this week. We hope that you children had the chance to get out and play and that you all stayed warm and safe. Just a reminder that next week, Monday through Thursday, will be abbreviated days for students, as well as parent-teacher conferences. If you have not signed up already, please reference your teacher's communication platform to check out remaining time slots. Also, a reminder that all parent drop-off and pick-up will begin occurring at Swift on January 18th, the Tuesday after the MLK weekend. Please watch the video below for further details on the upcoming changes to our procedures. Any parent picking up more than two days a week will be receiving a placard for their car. These will be handed to you directly at parent pick-up this week. If they have not already, your child will be receiving a corresponding number tag for their backpack.

With the spike in Covid that we are seeing, please reach out to the school with any student or household positives. Please be patient with our nurses in getting back to you, as they are very busy tracking cases, on top of their normal daily workload. If your child is displaying symptoms we implore that you please keep them home from school until you consult with your pediatrician. We appreciate your ongoing cooperation as we continue to navigate this everchanging pandemic. Welcome back, stay safe, and here's to a happier and healthier new year ahead.

Mrs. Biel and Miss Kim's second grade class returned from the break by celebrating the New Year! The class read "Squirrel's New Year's Resolution" and talked about what resolutions are. Each student made their own resolutions to display in the hallway! 2022 is off to a great start in Room 9!

In Social Studies, students in Mrs. Efstatos' class learned about Cultures, Customs, and Traditions. Students had the opportunity to share some of their own Holiday Traditions with the class in December. They created either a poster or Google Slides presentation to present to their peers.

Mr. Toland, our Pre-K supervisor, enjoyed some open gym time with Miss Stefanie and Miss Nicole's Preschool students!

The Lifeskill for the month of January is Tolerance.
