Principal's Update
Millstone Primary School - March 2024

Hello Millstone families and freinds!
Top o' the morning to ye, me dear lads and lasses!
'Tis I, your mischievous and merry leprechaun principal, here to share me monthly update from our enchanted halls of knowledge! As the daffodils bloom and the sun dances a jig in the sky, let me whisk ye away to the whimsical world of our March happenings:
๐ Pot o' Gold Reading Challenge: Ah, me hearties, our little leprechauns have been on a quest to find the ultimate pot o' gold through the magic of reading! Each page turned brings us closer to uncovering the treasures hidden within the pages of our books. This is a perfect time to celebrate Read Across America Week and invite our families to join us on Thursday (3/7) evening for Family Literacy Night <REGISTER HERE>!
๐ Rainbow Science Fair: Our wee scientists have been brewing potions and concocting experiments as colorful as the rainbow itself in STEAM class! From origami frogs to coding robots, our halls are alive with the wonders of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
๐ถ Shamrock Serenade: Fa la la la la, it's time to serenade the spring with our melodious voices! Our budding musicians have been practicing their jigs and reels, ready to charm the leprechauns themselves with their musical talents. Be on the lookout for invitations to our grade-level shows this spring!
๐ฑ Garden of Knowledge: As the earth awakens from its winter slumber, so too does our school garden burst forth with life! Our green-thumbed scholars have been planting seeds of wisdom and watching them bloom into beautiful blossoms of knowledge.
๐ฉ Magic of Imagination: Abracadabra and alakazam! With a sprinkle of imagination and a dash of creativity, our students have been conjuring tales of wonder and weaving spells of storytelling magic.
And remember, me darlings, as we journey through the enchanted forest of education, let us always keep the spirit of curiosity alive in our hearts and the twinkle of mischief in our eyes!
Until next time, may the luck of the leprechauns be with ye all!
Shamrockingly yours,
Your Leprechaun Principal

News and Notes
A Note from Mrs. Holden, STEAM and Technology teacher
Our Students Are Learning To Code!
If your child has come home talking about a โfuzzballโ that they played in Technology class, you may be wondering what that could be. Introducing Kodable! An interactive world where students have been developing and practicing their programming skills all while having a blast exploring Fuzztopia. Kindergarten through second graders have been focusing on building a strong foundation of concepts used in every coding language. The drag and drop platform is great for students to apply their programming logic, critical thinking skills and increase computational thinking.
Why Is Learning To Code Important?
Coding is the language of the future! Did you know that learning how to code helps students with logic skills that can be applied to other subjects such as math? Learning to program helps children practice resilience and perseverance; all while strengthening their problem-solving abilities. Kodable encourages creativity and digital literacy as our tech-based world continues to evolve.
Logging In At Home
Interested in having your child use Kodable at home? Mrs. Holden will be sending out parent codes this month to register for free to see their projects. Be on the lookout!
