College & Career Center Updates
Scholarships: Most of the scholarships listed in this newsletter have been won by Woodside seniors!
Financial Aid Applications: The CADAA and FAFSA have opened! Colleges are encouraging families to complete their application by 03/02/24 even though the Cal Grant deadline is 04/02/24. Completing a 2024-2025 financial aid application can help students qualify for some scholarships and begin the discussion with a financial aid office to appeal for more assistance.
WHS will hold a Cash for College event in the MUR next Wed., 01/31/24 between 6:30 - 8 PM. The student and parent(s) should attend this event together. WHS and If you can't make this event, more financial aid workshops will be held by other SUSHD campuses, and community colleges. We would like to help senior families complete their applications this month, so please reach out to our office for support.
College Applications: SFSU*, many CSU campuses, CSM, Skyline, CaƱada College, and 4-year colleges across the country are still accepting applications for Fall 2024!
Email your counselor of any changes to your Final College List and update your Naviance account. WHS is not notified if 7th semester transcript is required. Check your email and college application portal account regularly. Email your counselor and make the request on Naviance. If you listed SDSU, CSU East Bay, or a Common App college on Naviance [Colleges I'm Applying to], your 7th semester transcript has been sent. (It may take several days to register on your portal account.)
If you are changing your 2nd semester schedule or need to report a D/F grade to your colleges, use their update form (e.g., UC portals) or send an email message to the undergraduate admissions office. Here are some templates.
UC Applicants: Some applicants were sent an email, postal mail, or text message that they needed to verify an entry on their application. If you received this verification request, respond by 01/31/24 to avoid having your UC application cancelled.
Wishing you a great year ahead,
The WHS College & Career Center
*These colleges partner with California College Corps, a $10,000 opportunity to cover college expenses.
