Hello everyone,
We will be holding a SECOND uniform return/ End of season exchange on Tuesday, May 18th, at 5pm in the Senior lot at PHS under the solar panels. Please try to be there on time so we can wrap up and pack items away. I will be there with a gift for every girl along with their certificates, awards and patches. Mainly the items the girls would normally receive at the End of Season banquet. See instructions below.
I wanted to take a moment to recognize a first for our Varsity team, an achievement this season that is nothing short of amazing. Listed in our end of season booklet are the Awards & Recognition- I would like to highlight the Varsity teams All Academic team list with our Varsity players gpa's. If we had a banquet I would have spoke on this very special achievement. I want to give the girls the recognition that they all deserve. In order to be considered for the All Academic team you must be a Varsity player and hold a 3.5 gpa and above. This year every single player on Varsity earned a 3.5 or above and was given a certificate of achievement. This is a very special feat- not only was there a pandemic, school went into virtual learning, and we had the weirdest season ever, but each and every one of these ladies pulled through and kept their gpa's up. I always say academics come first and Field Hockey is second, but these amazing ladies did both!
This is the first time I have seen the entire Varsity team make the list in my 6 years in the program. All 15 Varsity girls made the academic team and Morgan Kallmann was named the captain. These young ladies overall average gpa for the entire team is a 4.07!!! I have gone back and looked at the San Diego Sections Scholars list for all sports, all seasons and all schools listed to 2012--there was not a single team listed with an average gpa at or above a 4.0, let alone a 4.07! I am so proud of the girls and honored to be their coach- they continue to amaze me in so many ways.
Congratulations ladies- this is just one more achievement for us to put down in the PHS Field Hockey's history book! You all were truly a team on and off the field. With true Titan pride, I applaud you all- bravo ladies- bravo! 👏👏
Upcoming news, we will be starting tryouts in the second week of August. Our Palomar league games will be on Wednesdays and Fridays in October. Preseason games and tournaments can be any day of the week.
