Dear Jaguar Band Families,

The weeks just keep flying by, and new events and opportunities for our Jaguar Band members just keep coming!

We are now entering the final week before Spring Break! However, before we get to what is coming up, we want to celebrate our successes from this past weekend! Numerous Jaguar Band members participated in the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest. We had thirty-seven instrumentalists earn a Superior rating, and eleven of those will advance to the Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contest. We also had a superior rating from Kyra Bevil who participated in the UIL Twirling Contest this weekend. Congratulations to all of our students who participated!

This coming week we see our Winter Guard continue with after-school practice on Monday, Thursday and Friday. This Saturday both our JV & Varsity Guards will compete in their first contest of the year at Davenport HS in New Braunfels!! We wish them the VERY best of luck!!

Our Wind Ensemble will have their regularly-scheduled rehearsal Tuesday, March 9, at 5 p.m. This week we will also have a guest clinician Wednesday during class, and we would like our virtual students who attend after school practice to participate in that clinic. When we return from Spring Break, Wind Ensemble will shift its after-school rehearsals to Monday evenings from 5-7 p.m. making it possible for our current and future SLT members to participate in the New Member Marching Camps on Tuesdays!

When we return from Spring Break we will have our first New Member Marching Camp Tuesday, March 23, from 5 - 7 p.m. Please help spread the word about this camp to ensure all of our rising 8th graders attend!! Additionally, that week we will have a Pre-UIL Festival at the Hays PAC March 24th & 25th. UIL will follow the very next week on March 31 & April 1st.

Don't forget our Snap fundraiser that starts this WEDNESDAY! It is a very important fundraiser for the band program!

The Johnson Jaguar Band depends in large part on the fundraising efforts of the Band Boosters. Sponsorships are a very important part of fundraising. Our Sponsorship levels have been updated, and we have a lot of exciting options for businesses AND families! We ask that every family please share this brochure with anyone you know that has a business. We are eager to help promote businesses in our community that support the Jaguar Band! A new addition to our Sponsorship options is the Friends and Family Level. This level offers various options for businesses as well as an option for band families: For $200, you can have your child’s name and graduation year on our band trailer indefinitely with the option to simultaneously add sibling name for an additional $100.

This section is for all new (Rookie!) parents! Here we will focus on various points of information that we believe would be helpful to families in their first year with the Jaguar Band.

8th Grade Spring Camps

8th grade and high school percussion camp continues.

8th grade camps for woodwinds and brass will be starting soon!

8th grade camps for the Jaguar Guard (JAGuard) will start in March!

*These camps are not mandatory but they will definitely give your student a strong start to the 2021 marching season! It's a great opportunity to meet 9-11th grade students and have fun!

Communications

The band directors and boosters primarily rely on Charms to communicate information. Make sure your information is up to date in Charms. Reminder that the Jaguar Band school code is: JohnsonJaguarBand
