4,000 BOOKS IN THE NEW NMFA LIBRARY.....AND COUNTING
We have collected close to 4,000 books for the new library at NMFA! We've also added several new book shelves and a new rug will be arriving soon. Thank you to all that have donated, and thank you in advance to all who may donate! We will continue to have the box at the front desk for donations and will be sure to incorporate those books into the library. We are now in the process of scanning all books into the database and inputting student names for checking the books out. Stay tuned for continued updates as we move along!
"When in Doubt Go to the Library"

DESTINATION IMAGINATION NEWS!
We are excited to offer Destination Imagination again for our students!
What is Destination Imagination? Destination Imagination is project-based education. The students will be on a team of 4-7 students. Working as a team, they will choose a Challenge from one of the following categories: Technical, Scientific, Improvisational, Service Learning, Engineering, or Fine Arts. To complete the Challenge, the team will need to generate ideas, research, design, build, make decisions, work with a budget, implement their ideas, and manage their project timeline. They will utilize creativity, ingenuity, and teamwork.
Why Destination Imagination? The skills that are developed through Destination Imagination include self-confidence, creative and critical thinking, team building, collaboration and respect, problem solving, risk taking, project management, and perseverance. These skills will help prepare our young people for the future! When our young people enter the adult workforce, it is predicted 65% of the jobs that will be available do not exist today. Destination Imagination will help your child be prepared.
This year, the Destination Imagination teams will work meet on Mondays after school, from 2:00 – 4:00. We are asking students to apply online to be part of Destination Imagination. Once the student applies, his/her teacher will be asked for input.
If your child is interested, please have go to this link https://forms.gle/YmfSVEBMLAZ9p6H78 and complete the form.
TRANSFORMING EDUCATION ONE CHALLENGE AT A TIME
NMFA GENERAL INFORMATION
HELP YOUR CHILD SUCCEED IN SCHOOL
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school - and themselves. Let's help our NMFA children by building the habit of a good attendance record early which will lead to success in the classroom!
School hours are: 7:30am – 2:00pm
School doors for parent pick up in the morning: 7:15am - 7:30 AM
School doors for parents pick up open in the afternoon: 2:00pm
PARENTS - DROP OFF AND PICK UP REMINDERS
All students must be signed in by an adult after 7:30 AM. Students will be marked tardy if they are arriving after 7:45 AM.
Any students being dropped off in the morning should be brought to the cul-de-sac on Helen Street until 7:30 AM. If you are needing to pick up your student who normally rides a bus, please call the office no later than 1pm to notify the front desk. They will get the message to their teacher.
For students who ride bus stops, your students must be at their assigned stop 5 minutes prior to the pick up time.
If your student is sick, please leave a message on the attendance line, utilize the attendance form on our website, or use the JMC Family App to submit attendance. As a general reminder, students will be sent home from school if they have a fever of 100 or over, they have vomited or have diarrhea. We may also call to ask that you pick your student up if they are not able to participate in class due to feeling ill. Students should be kept home until they are fever, vomit, or diarrhea free for 24 hours with no medication. Students who miss 3 or more days will need a doctors note.
Please call the front office if you are needing to speak with a staff member directly, or send an email to that staff member. During the day they may not be available to take a call directly but will call you back as soon they have a free moment.
