Columbus Connections
November 9, 2023
Welcome to our weekly newsletter for Columbus Elementary families! Every Friday we will share good news, important information, and of course our STAR STUDENTS with you.
Week in Review
This week was highlighted by our Take A Vet to School Day. This is the eight year that we have hosted veterans at Columbus. Students had the opportunity to join them for a light breakfast and conversation. Veterans visited each classroom and shared personal stories about their life experiences. It all culminated with a full school assembly in the gymnasium where we thanked them for their service to the country. Special thank you to Christine Galbo for organizing this amazing event for our school community. Thank you to the PTA for all of the support. Our third graders had a special assembly and received dictionary/almanacs form the Mid Westchester Elks Association. Our fifth graders also completed working on a science investigation this week as part of the new state science exam. There are four required investigations that will be completed prior to the students taking the exam in April. Please see some pictures below in the around Columbus section.
