Each item entered as a clothing, accessory, knitted, or crocheted exhibit must have an identification label stating:

4-H Day at Vala's
Vala’s Pumpkin Patch & Apple Orchard celebrate 4-H this week by offering discount admission. 2024 Enrollment
The 4-H Online site is going through it’s annual shutdown and maintenance, but watch our weekly updates for enrollment information when it is ready!
Clover Kid Club
Parents and children ages 5-7 are invited to be a part of the Douglas-Sarpy 4-H Clover Kid Program.
When: 10-17, 11-7, 12-12
Time: 6-7 pm
Where: Nebraska Extension Douglas-Sarpy Central Office, 8015 W Center Rd. Omaha
There is no cost to attend, but participants are asked to preregister with Rachel at rwright4@unl.edu.
4-H Fundraiser
Round 'em Up 4-H Cattle Club, is collecting gently worn, used and new shoes to raise money for supplies and community outreach. Not only do you help them by cleaning out your closet, but the shoes also get a second life with those in need. It's a double donation!
Two Gretna businesses are offering support by hosting donation boxes: Ace Hardware and Fareway Grocery Store.
Donations can also be brought to Rachel at the 4-H office (8015 W Center). Monday - Friday 8 am - 4:30 pm.
Volunteer Road Show
Calling all local 4-H volunteers! You’re invited to a unique volunteer training in Omaha on the evening of Thursday, November 9. Join us to discover new opportunities for yourself and your 4-H youth, network with other local 4-H volunteers, and build your skills as a 4-H volunteer. Registration is $15 and includes a meal and all supplies. Learn more and register at 4h.unl.edu/volunteer-road-show
Animal Projects
Companion Animal Contest
This year's Companion Animal Contest is open to all 4-H youth ages 5-18. All exhibitors will give a brief presentation about their small pet. This may include characteristics, health, history and care of the animal they are showing. This contest is for cats, fish, hamsters, birds, snakes, bugs, etc. *
When: April 13, 2024
Time: 9 am check-in will begin at 8:30a.m.
Where: Nebraska Extension Douglas-Sarpy Central Office, 8015 W Center Rd. Omaha

*Rabbits, poultry guinea pigs and dogs will be shown at their own shows.
Dog AKC Registration
What benefits do you get as a 4-H youth if you get your dog AKC registered?
• Platte Valley Kennel Club will cover ALL fees for you to get your dog AKC registered! (you dog does NOT need to be a purebred, they have other types of registrations for non-purebred dogs!)
• Any 4H dog person also registered with AKC as a Junior and the dog is AKC registered, can enter regular AKC classes in the trial for only $10.

Scholarships For College Students
Engler Scholarships for 4-H Alumni
This scholarship is a component of the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program.
The only requirements to apply for an Engler scholarship – declare a CASNR major and have participated in 4-H or FFA.
For academic year 2024-2025, the application will open on 10/1/23 and close on 1/15/24

Nebraska residents, those attending school in Nebraska, or those interested in a career in poultry-based in Nebraska are encouraged to apply for the 2024-2025 J.H. & J.W. Claybaugh Memorial Scholarship.
