ACADEMIC UPDATES
Marking Period 2
Marking Period 2 is well under way. It is critical for Students to be making progress through the next two weeks before the break. The semester will conclude shortly after we return, with the final day being Friday, January 19.
SCHEDULE UPDATE
CUSD Holiday Schedule
Friday, December 22 will be an Early Dismissal Day for Students. STEM Academy will dismiss at 10:30 AM.
All CUSD Offices will be closed the Week of December 25. Schools and Offices will re-open on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

COLLEGE UPDATES
Commonwealth University
College & Career Fair
Even more colleges and trade schools were in town on Wednesday for the College and Career Fair. All CUSD 11th and 12th Grade Students had the opportunity to meet with reps from a host of schools and employers, including:
West Chester University
Neumann University
East Stroudsburg University
United States National Guard
Penn State University
Cheyney University
It was a busy week for college readiness! Students were also on-campus at Cheyney University for a visit and tour. Several STEM Alumni are currently attending Cheyney on Full-Ride Academic Scholarships, and we hope to graduate more Wolves this year!
WINTER EVENTS
Winter Concert
Join us Thursday for the Annual Winter Concert. Tickets are available for purchase at the STEM Office.
Sponsored by the Senior Class
December is a Festive Month, and our Senior Officers, along with Ms. Thomson, have organized some special activities to celebrate the Holidays!
EARLY DISMISSALS
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
Sign-Up Today
Daily tutoring in Academic Subjects is available to all Students through this program. Students at all levels can benefit from spending extra time working with Teachers individually or in small groups. Whether your Student is a 9th Grader adjusting to Algebra, a Senior preparing for SAT's, or anywhere in between, staying for the After-School Program can help them improve.
The After School Program runs from Dismissal until 5:30 every Monday-Thursday. Students do not have to stay each day in order to attend.
Additionally, enrichment activities and clubs will meet daily or weekly, including:
-School Newspaper
-Yearbook
-Chess
-Art
-Strength and Conditioning

DRESS CODE
School Uniforms
Chester Upland High School Dress Code (CHS & STEM Academy)
Students may wear Chester Upland, Chester Clippers, or STEM Academy logo shirts. These shirts are available through the CUSD vendor. Additionally, Students may wear plain black, or orange polo shirts.
Pants must be black, navy blue, gray or tan.
Shoes must have a closed toe
Non-Permitted Clothing
The following clothing is not permitted (as outlined in the Student Handbook, and communicated with Students and Families at the beginning of the School Year):
Tights/Leggings
Sweatpants
Bubble Slippers and/or Open Toed Shoes
Plain White T-Shirts
Shorts
Students wearing these items will continue to be addressed. Students who wear these items after having been warned may be denied entry until they obtain proper attire. Please assist us in ensuring Students follow the Dress Code.
ARRIVAL AND ATTENDANCE
7:30 AM Start
As we have communicated, Students who consistently arrive late are missing a significant and important amount of class time. Those arriving daily after 7:45 AM will not receive passing grades in their First Period classes.
ATHLETICS
Winter Sports Season Has Begun!
Best of luck to Boys and Girls Basketball as well as Winter Track. We are looking forward to another great Clippers season!
