Harford County Public Schools switches to a four-day work week beginning June 19th. We will resume our regular, five-day work week on August 14th. If you have any questions or concerns about your services during this time, please reach out to your Infants & Toddlers teacher or therapist.

Summer Opportunities in the Community
Looking for opportunities in the community for your child to explore and interact with others? Here's a sampling of what is available in Harford County and neighboring communities this summer.
Please note, the programs listed in this handout are provided as a resource and are not specifically endorsed by Infants and Toddlers or the Harford County Public School System. We encourage you to make inquiries to see if the program will be a good fit for your child.
Parks and Playgrounds
- Rockfield Park Creative Playground, Bel Air - also home to the Chesapeake Sensory Plaza, which is a 5,000-square-foot interactive water playground with a series of wading pools
- Annie’s Playground, Fallston - featuring a newly opened play area for 2-5 year-olds
- Lyn Stacie Getz Creative Playground, Bel Air - under construction
- Schucks Road Park, Bel Air – sensory trail with 10 interactive features to see, touch & hear
- Tydings Park, Havre de Grace – an all-access playground, then walk the Promenade!
- Bear Legacy Adventure Trail, Bel Air - series of hiking trails that include a number of movement stations, a fairy garden, swing bridge, and climbing wall
- Mariner Point Park, Joppa - playground and 1.1 mile loop trail for walking
- Muddy Run Park, Holtwood, PA - splash pad for both children and adults, the season starts May 27th and they are open 10 AM - 8 PM
- Elk Neck State Park, North East, MD - beach and picnic area, visitor day user fees apply
- Angel Park, Perry Hall, MD - an all-inclusive playground next to the Perry Hall Library

Summer Movies
AMC Summer Movie Camp in Churchville - Rotating popular family movies, tickets are $3 on Wednesdays and $5 on Saturdays. click here for movie schedule
Horizon Summer Movie Series in Fallston and Aberdeen - $6 admission to select family movies on Fridays. Ticket includes a snack pack (popcorn, soda and airhead). click here for Fallston and here for Aberdeen movie schedule.
Outdoor Movies in Bel Air's Shamrock Park - Featuring free, family-friendly movies! Join them June 16 for Puss in Boots, July 21 for The Grinch (2018) and August 18 for DC Leagues of Super-Pets. Event is weather permitting.

Enjoy your local community on the First Friday of the month!
Havre de Grace, 5-9:30 PM - Family-friendly block party on closed streets in downtown Havre de Grace offers a kids zone, cafe seating at restaurants, live bands, food trucks and more.
Harford County Public Library
In addition to their regular Story Times, the Library offers events and activities as part of the Summer Reading Challenge. This year's theme is All Together Now. Visit your local branch to learn more.

Pools and Swimming Lessons
Mommy (or Daddy) & Me swim class for infants and toddlers, as well as private instruction.
YMCA, Abingdon
Offers swim lessons for children age 0-3, beginning with water discovery and water exploration.
Aquaculture, Forest Hill
Infant and toddler lessons starting at age 6 months.
Conowingo Pool, Darlington
Open for day passes and membership. Swim lessons start at age 3.
Shanberger's Pool, Fawn Grove PA
Open to the public and membershop. Swim lessons available.

Magnolia Grove Farm
Eden Mill Nature Center
Eden Mill is a county park in Pylesville that features a nature center, museum, hiking trails, picnic tables and family programming. Check out their Preschool Nature Series for ages 2-5 with an adult.

Anita C. Leight Estuary Center at Otter Point
Located on the shores of Otter Point Creek in Abingdon, this nature center offers outdoor activities and programs for families. Be sure to check out Critter Dinner Time and Family Feed.!

Sensory Sundays at the B&O
Visit the B&O Railroad Museum for select first Sundays, including June, August and October, for sensory awareness activities, 10 AM - 4 PM. These days will include environmental accommodations (no music, low lighting, quiet areas, increased signage for areas with sound effects), as well as sensory-friendly events (kids craft, train ride** and tour) and resources (sensory kits, social stories, and community table). Pre-registration is required.

We Rock the Sprectrum
Sensory gym that provides a fun environment for kids by providing support and amazing sensory gym equipment. They offer open play and are planning classes in the future.

Crab Kickers
Crab Kickers is a soccer program where children can develop soccer skills, social skills, coordination, and have fun. They offer programs throughout the year for children age 2-12. Their Harford locations include Aberdeen, Bel Air, Havre de Grace and Whiteford. They also offer a summer camp.

Offers open gym time, camps and a variety of classes starting as young as 4 months. Want to try it out? My Gym offers a 1-week guest pass for $23.

Kinetic Youth Academy
This gym in Bel Air offers programs for younger kids, including Toddler Movement for those walking-age 3 and Kids in Motion for ages 3-5. They suggest starting with a Family Open Gym session to try out the facility.

Plumpton Park Zoo
Family zoo in Rising Sun, Plumpton is open 7 days a week. Featured animals include bears, giraffe, camels and lions.

Augmenting Ability
Augmenting Ability offers music therapy and group sessions for little ones. Director Melissa Ward also teaches the Music Together program, which is a music and movement class, at the Maryland Conservatory of Music.

Do-Re-Wee Music Academy
Do-Re-Wee focuses on socialization, education and musical fun. Parent-child music classes are offered in Churchville and Bel Air for children age 8-months to 5-years.
