K-2 Saint of the Month: Saint Joseph

Saint Joseph was given the very important job of taking care of Jesus and Mary by God. God promised to help Joseph and that Jesus would save us from our sins. Saint Joseph hoped in God and did just what He asked. God kept His promises.

3-5 Saint of the Month: Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton

Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was born to a wealthy Episcopalian family in New York City. She was deeply prayerful and joyful, drawn to the Catholic faith. She was accepted into the Catholic Church. Saint Elizabeth opened the first Catholic parish school in America. She was also the first canonized American-born saint.

6-8 Saint of the Month: Saints Louis & Zelie Martin

Saints Louis & Zelie Martin of France both felt called to the religious life. Trusting in God's plan for their lives, they raised 9 children, teaching their children to love God first and always and to give Him a true offering of their lives in the ordinary events of every day. The greatest testimony of the unfailing hope of this holy couple is that of one of their daughters, Saint Therese of Lisieux, who considered her parents "more worthy of heaven than of the earth." Saints Louis and Zelie Martin were the second married couple to be beatified.

Attention parents! Updating your Guardians medical information just became easier. Follow the easy steps in the app to do so. There is also a new section for over-the-counter information. The steps to update student medical information through the SRCS app are above. You can also update this information through the web browser in the family portal.

Experiment Day with Mrs. Wykle's 4th Grade Science Class!

Mrs. Wykle's 4th-grade science class continued their focus on observations and experiments by proving the Law of Conservation of Matter by showing that matter is not created nor destroyed, only changed in the form! They combined a solid and liquid, which reacted to form a liquid and a gas. The gas then filled the balloon, proving that gasses take up space! It was a great day to be a scientist!

Author and Illustrator Visit for Kindergarten, First and Second Grades

On Monday, Sept 23, beloved author Ann Patchett and illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will share their upcoming picture book The Verts with our Kindergarten, First and Second graders! Nominations for the current school year Lewis Award for Excellence in Teaching are now being accepted.


The Monsignor Gerald Lawrence Lewis Award was initiated in 1992 to honor outstanding

educators in the Catholic Schools of the Diocese of Raleigh and to recognize, promote and
encourage teaching excellence.


Any full-time classroom teacher in grades K through 12 who is responsible for planning, grading, and parent contact and has served in the diocese for 4 years is eligible for nomination.

HSA Corner

WHAT DOES THE HSA DO? The HSA organizes and sponsors many events throughout the school year. The list is long, but a few highlights are: Used Uniform Store, Fall Fest, Father and Daughter Dance, Mother and Son Kickball, and numerous teacher appreciation events. We would greatly appreciate any volunteers to help plan events, donate items or attend sponsored events. Sign-ups for all committees can be found on the school app or feel free to contact us anytime at hsa@saintraphael.org to volunteer.


WHEN DO THE HSA MEETINGS OCCUR? Come join us for our monthly meetings which are always on a Tuesday in the church nursery immediately following carpool drop off (8:30am). We always end our meetings by 9:15am to ensure we respect everyone's time and the preschool's space. There will also be a few zoom meetings to accommodate those who are unable to attend after drop off. Our first HSA meeting will be on September 17th. We hope to see you there.

Experience and tools are not needed, only a willingness to help out. Volunteers only participate in tasks they feel comfortable doing, and there is always a need for volunteers to provide lunches for the construction volunteers.
