Principal's Message
Wildcats and Families,
This week is College and Career Readiness Week at DHS. Sponsored by our AVID program, the spirit week coincides with Apply Kansas (Nov. 7-9). In addition to the activities planned throughout the week, Seniors can apply for free to any university, community college, or technical school in Kansas. More information can be found on the flyers below.
Next week, our focused social and academic behaviors, The WildCAT Way emphasis is being thoughtful - specifically treating others respectfully. Join us in promoting a culture of kindness and respect as we prepare for Anti-Bullying Week from November 13th to 17th. Let's encourage all our students to stand up, speak out against bullying, and make our school a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
The De Soto High School Volleyball program recently had 3 individuals selected to the 2023 All United Kansas Conference Volleyball Team. Congratulations to: 1st Team All-Conference - Aubrey Scott, 2nd Team All-Conference - Chloe Kmiecik, and Honorable Mention - Kylie Groves.
Congrats to DHS Art Teacher, Mikki Gotham! Mrs. Gotham joins the prestigious Nelson-Atkins Museum Teacher Advisory Board. This unique opportunity fosters collaboration with other educators to improve local art programs. Way to go, Mrs. Gotham!
Tickets are now available for purchase for our fall musical The Addams Family. The link and show dates/times are included below. We hope to see you there.
On Tuesday, November 7th, there will be a 10th-grade class meeting in the PAC during seminar.
Our Student Leadership class is organizing an all-school assembly on Friday, November 10th, in honor of Veteran's Day. The assembly will take place from 10:30 - 11:30 AM in our main gymnasium.
Semester 1 Final Exams are scheduled to begin Monday, December 18th, and end Thursday, December 21st. Winter Break begins on December 22nd. If students have to leave town prior to or during finals week, they will need to work with the teacher to make up the final within two weeks of their return (not before).
Graduation may seem far off, but May 18th will be here before we know it. Seniors and senior parents may want to review the information posted on our website.
Thanks, and have a great week.
