SEPTEMBER HUSKIE HOWL
NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
It is with immense excitement that I extend a warm welcome to an incredible new school year at Shadow Butte Elementary. As we embark on this journey together, I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new principal. While this role is new to me at Shadow Butte, my roots in our community run deep. I am a true Emmett enthusiast, having grown up, met my husband, watched our children thrive in Emmett schools, and dedicated my entire career to the Emmett School District. Needless to say, my affection for our town knows no bounds.
As I stood on duty, ready to greet our students the other morning, I couldn't help but pause to admire the sprawling fields and the majesty of the Butte. In that moment, I was reminded of the privilege we share in being a part of this remarkable community. Whether you've been here for generations or recently joined our fold, we are all fortunate to call this place home.
Looking ahead, I am genuinely excited to build connections with each of you and get to know your children better. Together, we will form a strong partnership, united in our commitment to nurturing your child's aspirations throughout this academic year. As they embark on the journey to "Grow Their Dreams," please know that I am here to support, guide, and celebrate their progress every step of the way.

School Board Elections- Make a difference in Education!
We are looking for dedicated individuals to make a lasting impact on the lives of children and education in our community! The Emmett School District board is composed of six trustees elected by the public. These are volunteer positions receiving no monetary compensation but fulfilling a vital role that impacts so many. Three of these ESD school board seats are up for election this November.
We deeply appreciate the selfless service of our school board trustees. Serving on the school board is a rewarding volunteer position, as it allows you to contribute directly to the growth and development of our schools and students. If you have a passion for education and a genuine interest in the well-being of our students, we encourage you to consider running for the Emmett School District school board.
The process to become a candidate is simple! Paperwork for candidacy can be obtained at the Emmett School District office--119 N. Wardwell. If interested, please see Angela Mattingly (District Secretary and Clerk of the Board). She is your contact to answer any questions and accept the paperwork when completed. It's a simple process, but the deadline to submit the required paperwork is September 8.
Election day is set for November 7, when our community will cast their votes and decide who will be entrusted with shaping the future of education in our district.
If you're ready to be a positive force in education and make a real difference, we can't wait for you to join the journey as a school board trustee. Let's work together to ensure a bright future for our students and schools.
ATTENDANCE
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES
- If there are changes on how your children will be going home at the end of the day, those changes must be called into the office at 208-365-0877 by 2:50 pm / Fridays 1:45 pm.
- If you need to check out your child during recess, we kindly request that you wait until the recess concludes or arrive before recess. This supports the safety of all students, as our duty staff can then focus on their designated supervision areas without any distractions. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation!
PARENT PICK UP PROCEDURES
When pulling up in the pick up line DO NOT exit the car, if your student needs extra help, park in the lot closest to the school. This is safest method for all students and keeps the traffic flowing and from gathering on Idaho Blvd.
We ask that parents not park in the staff parking that is located on the corner of Idaho and Mesa so students and parents are not crossing traffic and in between moving cars.
Thanks again for helping us keep our students safe!
NOTE FROM THE COUNSELOR
Welcome Back!!
I am so excited to start a new school year with everyone! There are many new faces and changes that can be a little intimidating for some children, but there are also a lot of familiar faces to welcome students back to school. As we come back to school let's set goals to Be Safe, Be Honest, Be Respectful, and Be Responsible so Shadow Butte can continue to be a wonderful place!
Happy, Healthy Kids Tip:
To ease students' back to school worries, offer them a sense of control. Let them choose their first day of school outfit, add their favorite treat to their lunch, or pick out special school supplies.
Girls Who Code Club
Come learn to code and change the world. Join a Girls Who Code club!
Ms. Collinsworth (the keyboarding teacher) is starting a Girls Who Code Club for girls in 3rd-5th grade. Meetings will be Mondays at lunch. Girls are welcome to bring their lunch to the keyboarding room.
Parent forms are available in the keyboarding room.
NOTE FROM THE SCHOOL NURSE
Back to School
Now that summer has ended and we are all inside together, we have to work to protect each other.
Please reinforce with your child to take these simple steps to help slow the spread of germs that cause respiratory illness.
- Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or their inner elbow.
- Wash hands often with soap and water or hand sanitizer.
- If your child has a respiratory illness, like the flu, limit contact with others as much as possible to help prevent spreading illness. Keep your child home for at least 24 hours after the fever is gone, without the use of a fever-reducing medicine.
NOTE FROM THE LIBRARY
