A Message from the Principal
Dear Greeley Families,
I hope you are all enjoying the wintry weather and anticipation of Winter Break. This week, I wish to highlight our staff's deep appreciation for our Parent Teacher Organization. From planning evening family events to organizing a successful Book Fair, our PTO continues to be a major support for the important work done in our school and district. And of course, the PTO could not be as successful as they are without the backing of our larger Greeley community.
On a separate note, the Greeley office shared a communication update regarding the Winter Sharing. This note is included at the end of this newsletter for ease of access. Please be sure to review and reach out to the office with any questions. We are looking forward to this fun event!
Sincerely,
Joshua Swanner
Principal

Winter Benchmarking
Benchmark assessments are valuable tools that provide a snapshot of student progress at a point in time. These assessments help teachers to identify areas where students are excelling and where they may need additional support. They can also inform instructional decisions by providing data that can be used to tailor teaching to meet each student's unique needs and strengths. Benchmark assessments are an important component of progressive education, which recognizes that students learn in different ways and at different rates. By using benchmark assessments to inform instruction, teachers can provide a more individualized approach to learning that supports each student's academic growth and personal development.
Academic benchmark assessments for literacy and math will occur three times this year for students in grades K-8. The Winter Benchmark Assessments start on January 8th and conclude on January 19th. There are three platforms the district utilizes to gather student learning information; aimswebPlus, mCLASS, and NWEA MAP. Benchmarking reports will be mailed home on Wednesday, January 31st.

Online Pre-Registration for Incoming Kindergarteners & New Students for the 2024/2025 School Year has Begun
Registration for incoming kindergarteners and students new to The Winnetka Public Schools in 2024/2025 is now open. Questions related to School Admissions and age requirements are addressed in School Board Policy 7:50 School Admissions and student Transfers to and from Non-District Schools.

Winter Sharing Update (Repeated)
This is reminder email about RSVPs for our Winter Sharing. As of last Wednesday, 70% of our families have completed the RSVP process. Thank you! If you have not done so, please be sure to RSVP in advance. Performances will begin promptly at their designated times. Families that do not RSVP will need to wait in line to be checked in, risking their ability to be present at the start of the performance or access a seat.
Additionally, we have noticed some families requesting to be on the waitlist for a different performance time, but the preferred time they indicated is their original, designated time. Please be sure to carefully read through the brief RSVP form when completing it.
One last important note: We are not using a ticket system for seats. This means that we are providing individual families with up to four seats. Seat numbers and performance times were intentionally planned with the understanding that not every family will use their four seats. With this in mind, I caution families on "gifting" unused seats to other families, as those seats might not be available.
We are trying our absolute best to be accommodating. This includes adding a third performance, providing families with an additional seat, and creating a waiting list to switch times. As you can imagine, these accommodations require much work and planning for our office staff. We will be strictly following the procedures described in this email in order to provide an fair and consistent opportunity for all families. Thank you for working with us so that all families can enjoy this special event!
