Admin Corner
We are committed to our targeted learning focus for the school:
Ponder, Persevere and Prove It!
Facilities Thank yous!
All of us at MES would like to send a huge thank you to our facilities team including Gary Taylor, Juan Villalpando, Victor Garcia, Hiroki Okamoto and Donna Mercer. This winter has tested all of our limits, and this crew has shown up everyday to help make our building a safe place to learn. Additionally, we would like to thank the latest crew of emergency responders from Mammoth Lakes Fire Department, LA County Fire Department, San Marcos Fire and Carlsbad Fire Departments who came to do additional snow removal on our MES building this past weekend. They mitigated all cornices near walkways and doors and widened access points to the building. We cannot thank them enough for their work!
State CAASPP & ELPAC Testing
Mammoth Elementary School will be starting ELPAC state testing for English Learners this month. The state test for CAASPP English Language Arts and Math as well as Science for 5th graders will be administered in May. Specific dates will be published to the website by the end of the month. Please be sure to work any planned trips around testing dates to reduce interruptions to your child's learning.
Lost and Found
The last day to claim items from the Lost and Found is Friday, April 14. All items not claimed will be bagged up and donated to a local thrift store. Please be sure to come in and claim items by the end of the day Friday.
Attendance
Average daily attendance at MES is 92%. Our goal is to get above 95%! Help us by ensuring your children come to school daily. Read the attached handout about the importance of school attendance.
We have a new system integrated with our attendance program that is making automated contact with families when a student is marked absent. Please be patient as we learn to work with this new system. If you have already called in your child's attendance for the day, you can ignore the message. If you have not already made contact, please call our attendance hotline to report why @ 760-934-7162. If your child’s absence is not reported, it is considered truant. Also note that this is a monitored line for leaving an attendance message only. You will not receive a call back.
