Greetings Trojan Family,


This is a message from your Proud Principal, Leslie Kinard. I would like to formally introduce myself and say that I am grateful to be rejoining the Trojan Nation! I return to Ferndale Middle dedicated and passionate about ensuring the best learning environment for our students possible. I am thankful for our teaching and support staff and hope that you will join me in celebrating them this week for National American Education Week.

*FMS asks parents to read with their students, check homework every night, limit television viewing or screen time on school nights, develop a relationship with your child's teacher, and simply ask their students about their school day.


Wednesday, November 17, 2021

  • American Education Week: Education Support Professionals Day
  • American Education Week Activity
*FMS staff, students, and parents send an email, card, or thank you letter to our ESPs in their schools.


Thursday, November 18, 2021

*FMS students dress as if they were in their future careers and talk about that profession's role in the community.

Friday, November 19, 2021

  • American Education Week: Substitute Educators Day
  • American Education Week Activity
*FMS students and staff will encourage increased respect for substitutes education employees.

Remote Learning Days and Fall Break: November 22-26

Monday, November 22, and Tuesday, November 23 have been made remote learning days for all GCS students. Students will not report to school but will complete assignments in Canvas. Some students may receive printed assignments from their teachers for those two days.


Wednesday through Friday, November 24 - November 26th, students are out of school for Fall Break. There will be no assignments for these days.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Learner Profile of the Month

FMS Counseling Office

Ferndale 7th and 8th-grade students will be participating in a career assessment survey using YouScience Discovery on Tuesday, November 16th, 2021.


YouScience Discovery brain games match what students are good at (aptitudes) and what they like to do (interests) with in-demand careers where they will have a competitive advantage. This is a great opportunity for our students to learn more about themselves and prepare for their futures.
