High School Summer School

Dates
Session I: June 9 - 25 (Required Professional Learning: June 7 - 8)
Session II: July 14 - 30 (Required Professional Learning: July 7 and July 23)
High school teacher-led for acceleration and/or credit recovery will be in a virtual format.
High school Credit Recovery through Edgenuity will be primarily virtual with an opportunity for students to attend in-person for prescriptive testing and/or Lab Manager support at Vista Ridge High School.
Pay
Teacher: $30/hour
Instructional Assistant: $15/hour

We will be hosting a “Meet the Principal” session via Zoom from 4 -5 p.m. on April 7 to introduce the secondary summer school principal and assistant principals, provide an overview of summer school, and answer questions.

Middle Ignite - Middle School Summer School

Middle School Summer School will be structured the same as the summer of 2019 when Ignite kicked off the program with the goal of engaging students for future success during the school year. Middle School Ignite will have an equal focus on both academics and social skills building. Middle school will be an in-person format.

Online Credit Recovery

Elementary Ignite

Posting title: 2021 Elementary Summer School Teacher Internal Job ID 5488
This summer, identified students at nine campuses will receive the opportunity to extend learning from this school year while participating in small group reading or math lessons that are 45-minutes long. The program will target current first, second, and fifth-grade students. The lessons will occur three times a week for six weeks this summer. This instruction could happen virtually or in-person.
Teachers supporting this program will work together to create a schedule. Each teacher will be expected to support four groups per day. The recommended group size is four or less. The goals of Elementary Ignite are to engage students, make connections and empower learners and their families. A willingness to think flexibly and creatively is crucial for any candidate thinking about applying for one of these positions.
Dates: June 8 - 24, July 13 - 29 | Tuesday - Thursday of each week (Times: TBD by campus)

Extended School Year - Special Ed
Deadline to Apply: Friday, April 30
Extended School Year (ESY) is a program designed for special education students who experience regression and the loss of critical skills during breaks in school and are unable to demonstrate recoupment of these skills within a reasonable period of time. Services are individualized, but typically include ELE, SLE, ICAP, behavior, and site-based (location other than ESY school campus such as in-home).
Location
Elementary: Deer Creek Elementary School
Secondary: Vista Ridge High School
Dates
June 7 - 24 and July 12 - 29 | Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. -12 p.m.
Site-based hours will vary based on student needs. Teachers and parents will coordinate dates, times, and places to meet.
Required Teacher Professional Learning: June 2 from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Hiring Requirements
- To be a classroom and site-based teacher, you need to hold a teacher’s certificate and be certified in special education.
- Instructional assistants must be highly qualified.
- ESY will hire support staff (SLP, OT, PT, VI, O&M) based on student needs. All support staff must apply.
- ESY will also hire one nurse per campus. Related service providers will be hired based on the number of students that need those services.
Pay
Teachers - $30/hour
Instructional Assistants - $15/hour

Summer COVID Compensatory
Deadline to Apply: Friday, April 30
Summer COVID Compensatory Services can be provided for students who receive special education services and have not made the expected progress on their IEP goals due to the implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, subsequent school closures, and virtual emergency learning. The need for Summer COVID Compensatory Services is determined by the ARD committee and based on data review. Services can be campus-based or site-based (location other than school campus such as in-home).
Location
Campus-based services will be coordinated through ESY at Deer Creek Elementary School for elementary and Vista Ridge High School for secondary.
Pay: Rates same as ESY.

Summer Job Coaches
Deadline to Apply: Friday, April 30
Summer Vocational Services are designed specifically to support students with disabilities who have paid work. The Job Coaches are expected to be out on the job sites and be able to drive a suburban. These services allow the students to continue to receive vital support so that they keep their paid employment.
Location: Cedar Park High School portables to start the day; assignments will vary weekly
Dates: June 7 - 24 and July 12 - 29 | Monday - Thursday | 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Hiring Requirement: Must be a Level 3 Instructional Assistant or hold be a Certified Teacher

Dual Language/ESL Summer Program

2021 Summer Bubble Festival
This summer program is for Pre-K and Kindergarten English Learners who are currently participating in ESL or dual-language programs.
At this time, we are waiting for guidance from TEA regarding the learning environment (in-person, virtual, or hybrid) for our summer program. As soon as we get this information, we will update this site.
Location: Reed Elementary
Dates for students:
Session 1: June 9 - 24 (Monday - Thursday)
Break: June 25 - July 4
Session 2: July 5 - 14
Student’s Class time: 7:30 a.m. - 2:35 p.m.

If applying for a dual-language classroom position, you must have your bilingual certification. If applying for an ESL classroom position, you must have your ESL certification.
We will also be hiring a librarian, PE, and art teacher. All applications will be submitted through Applitrack. We plan on hiring by the end of April.
