Summer Check In
July 28, 2023
Dear Noyes Families,
I hope you are having a fun-filled summer! I absolutely have. I am so grateful that my siblings and I had the opportunity to take our mom on her first and likely only trip to Europe. We visited Italy, Austria, and Germany and had the time of our lives there. We were there before it was 107 in the shade. Phew! I cannot wait to hear all about the summer adventures of our students and staff when everyone returns in a few weeks!
Yes, I said weeks. Are you counting the days? Just 33 more.
In the meantime, there are a few things to share today.
If you are looking for the school supplies list, it is always posted on the Peter Noyes website or, for ease, you can find it directly here. Many of you purchased supplies already through the PTO and Schoolkidz. These boxes will be delivered right to school and will be in your child’s classroom on the first day.
Class Placement will be posted on August 16 by 4 p.m. through the Follett Aspen Family Portal. If you are a new-to-Noyes family or you have an incoming kindergarten student, a placement letter is being mailed to you and you will likely receive it by August 16. Sudbury Central Office plans to mail these out on August 14.
The SPS calendar is always on the district website and can be found here for your convenience. Please note that the first day of school for grades 1-8 is Wednesday, August 30. Students in preschool and kindergarten will participate in Visit Days at an assigned time during August 30 - September 1. The first day for preschool and kindergarten students is Tuesday, September 5.
In case you didn’t know, we have an excellent Social-Emotional Resources website that I encourage you to explore. One section contains helpful Back to School resources, but there are loads of other great topics too.
There have been a few staffing changes. We congratulate Anh Le, our new Early Childhood Coordinator, and Lauren Lewis, our new Team Chairperson. We warmly welcome Elissa DeNunzio, grade 1 teacher, and Emily Rosso, grade 2 teacher. We are excited to welcome back Debbie Campbell, grade K teacher, and Kate Valukis, grade 4 teacher. We also welcome new support staff members: Haley Harrington (ABA tutor), Ganni Podolska (ABA tutor), and Sahana Shenoy (Teaching Assistant). While this is not a staffing change, it is a name change; congratulations Mrs. Maggie MacGovern (formerly Ms. Schacht) who just got married a few weeks ago!
I’ll reach out again soon, but in the meantime, enjoy this precious time with your kids. My babies are both in college now, but home working for the summer (yeah!). Trust me, it goes faster than you think. Savor those childhood moments.
Warmly,
Annette Doyle
