This was such a great weekend for Fulton. We kicked off the weekend with our 4th and 5th grade chorus singing The National Anthem at the Bowie Baysox game. The students were nervous but excited and did a great job. This speaks to the great work that Mrs. Ormond and Mrs. Shawyer have been doing all year long with our students. Thank you to the staff members who came out and supported. This is the beginning of a new tradition at FES! Check out them in action!
We also had our 2nd Annual Beautification Day at FES. This year we expanded our efforts on the 5th grade portable with painting the rails, painted the RECC pavement, mulched the Outdoor classroom, prepared the indoor columns for Girls on the Run and added some Fulton ornamentation to the playground. A huge shout out the Fulton staff who joined us! This was a great way to add to the preparation in which the 25th Anniversary Team has been doing for this upcoming Saturday, our 25th Anniversary Celebration.
Warmly,
FES Admin
We are celebrating this weekend!

Beautification Day Success
Beautification Day was truly beautiful - from the weather to our amazing community volunteers who were both there physically and who donated food or supplies, to our staff members who joined (on a weekend, no less) to help - Dr. Burks and Mrs. Sillers, Mrs. Dudek and Recc teacher Zoe Bridges and super hero Stan Prowell - everyone came together to make it a great and productive day!!!
💙Nicole Davison and Nilam Gosai - words can’t express our thanks for taking on this project- so many choices, considerations and needs and you did an amazing job managing it all, making sure we worked efficiently, to truly make meaningful changes around our school!!
💛We also wanted to give a huge shout-out to Mrs. Ciliberti for allll of her, and her family’s, contributions to the outdoor classroom!!! We sooo appreciate it and cannot wait to see it being used!
Check out some of the fun from our Beautification Day.

Parent Consideration Form for the SY23-24
When placing students, the staff and administration take into account several factors to help develop heterogenous classes that result in classes that are academically, socially, culturally, and gender balanced. Some of these criteria include, but are not limited to:
-the personality of the child
-the gender balance in each classroom
-math strengths and needs
-written output
-test results
-reading strengths and needs
-special education requirements; IEP goals
-structured versus non-structured needs
-information from previous teachers and school counselor.
There are certain concerns we cannot consider as part of this Consideration Form, therefore, we ask you not use this form to propose the following:
-specific teacher requests
-grouping based on siblings’ experience
-grouping based on friends
-grouping based on hearsay.
Your input on this form will be used in our planning for your child rather than a letter requesting a specific teacher. Your response is OPTIONAL but is a very valuable source of information to the school staff and to the next teacher.
The form closes on May 26th. Thank you for your help.
Fulton Finery- May 18th
The Fulton Finery is back! Mark your calendars Thursday, May 18th from 6:00 to 7:30. Come out and see all the great work our students have done this school year. Each student will have a project on their desk. But there is more, come to the cafeteria to see the Science Inquiry projects. Then head to the gym to see the G/T Enrichment projects. And end in the media center to see the Lego Challenge displays. We hope you can join us for this Fulton tradition.

SGA's service project, please support!
During the month of May, the Student Government Association's (SGA) service project is a food drive for the Howard County Food Bank. SGA is working with Mr. Smith to collect the food. Each grade level will have a box for collection. There will be a poster in the cafeteria to show how much food each grade has collected. At the end of the month, the grade with the highest number of food items collected will win. One lucky student in that grade will be able to pie Mr. Smith (senior) in the face during lunch. One lucky student in the grade with the second highest number of food items collected will be able to pie Mr. Smith (junior) in the face during lunch. The food bank is in need of bags of rice, pasta and sauce, spices, soups, peanut butter, sauces and condiments, bags of beans, hot and cold cereal, 100% fruit juice, diapers (size 4+), and feminine hygiene. Let's restock those shelves for Howard County residents!
Teacher Appreciation Week
Traditionally, Teacher Appreciation Week is the first full week in May with Teacher Appreciation Day being celebrated on the Tuesday of that first week. This year, Teacher Appreciation Week is celebrated the 2nd week in May; however, here at FES we couldn't wait and want to say thank you this week!
Our Fulton staff support, inspire, motivate and bring learning to life. Each day they go above and beyond for our students. Please join me in thanking our Fulton staff this week for everything they do.
