12/7/2021 Naquag News!
Greetings Naquag Families,
It’s the first full week of December! Last week we jumped into a full week of school after the Thanksgiving break. It was great to see everyone and begin instruction again. We also had a surprise fire drill from the Rutland Fire Department. Our children, teachers and staff did a wonderful job. In the upcoming weeks, we’ll start practicing “Shelter in Place”, staying in the classrooms and additional steps in the event of an emergency. Our stellar teachers will continue to skillfully guide our children through these safety practices.
Enjoy these upcoming December days with short afternoons and chilly temperatures. Who knows what December weather may bring!
- Naquag’s Community Service 12/8/- 12/17: Mitten / Glove / Winter Hat Collection for those in need in Worcester County. We’ll be collecting new mittens, gloves and winter hats for the next two weeks. We’ll celebrate our successful community service project on Friday, December 17 - with a “Slipper Day”! MUST WEAR REGULAR SHOES TO SCHOOL.
- 2 Hour Delay Protocol: In the event we have a 2 hour delay (due to inclement weather), school will begin @ 11:00. Arrival begins at 8:35. Bagged breakfasts will not be served. Lunch will be served. Also, there will not be recess. Superintendent McCall announces 2 hour delays for the District. (Either the night before or early morning.)
Kind Reminders and Updates:
- Daily District COVID-19 Self Screenings: Thank you for your collaboration and following the District’s COVID-19 Self-Screening Protocols. Let’s keep up this good practice!

- Masks: Parents / Guardians should provide 2 clean masks a day for their child. Please avoid gaiters (neck masks)and no masks with values.
-Winter Gear (Coat/Hat/Gloved-Mittens/Boots): Snow in New England has already begun! We’ll be going outside as much as possible unless it’s too icy. Your child should wear a warm coat, winter hat and gloves. Your child may also bring in snow pants and winter boots too. WINTER BOOTS: Winter boots worn all day are very hot and cumbersome.
