Raba Counselor Corner

We are so excited to reunite with our Rattler families this year!

As your Raba School Counselors, we are here to collaborate and build relationships with students, parents, and the community. We work to create a positive environment and provide support for your child to thrive in school. We anticipate that each student will have many successful experiences socially, emotionally, and academically.

Since children may experience a variety of concerns at different developmental stages, Raba's Guidance & Counseling Program offers many services that assist students in acquiring knowledge and skills necessary for healthy emotional and social development. Guidance and counseling services are offered for all children in grades PK- 5th grade. The guidance and counseling program at Raba is designed to be proactive and preventative as well as developmental. The counselors work with students in three different settings:

1. All students in PK - 5 receive classroom guidance lessons.
2. Students may be invited to participate in a small group counseling setting. In small group counseling, the counselor teaches specific skills to 3-8 students at a time. These groups meet during the school day for six to eight 30 minute sessions.
3. The counselor sees individual students when they have a social or emotional concern, which may interfere with their ability to learn or concentrate in school. An appointment may be made to see the counselor by the student, teacher, parent or by invitation of the counselor.

Guidance Curriculum

School counselors provide regular classroom guidance lessons that facilitate student growth and development in the areas of educational, career, personal, and social development.

Individual Planning

School counselors guide students to plan, monitor, and manage their own educational, career, personal and social development.

Responsive Services

In this component, school counselors intervene with or on behalf of those students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grades whose personal circumstances, concerns, or problems are threatening to interfere with or are interfering with their healthy educational, personal, social, career and/or educational development.

System Support

The System Support component describes management activities which assure the delivery of a high quality school counseling program, and service which indirectly benefit students by supporting other programs.
