River Mill Elementary - April 21, 2023

Dear River Mill Families,

Thank you for supporting your child to show up to school each day. We have been able to celebrate with our students each grade's success with them during our weekly assemblies. They get excited when they collectively reach over 90% and their cheers and encouragement of one another has been really fun to see. Please continue to send your child to school each day, even if they have a cold or are sleepy. Remember, if they have a fever, diarrhea, or are vomiting, they will need to stay home as those are exclusionary symptoms. Otherwise, we want to see them each day.

This month, we are focusing on the standard of excellence perseverance. Our students are showing perseverance in a variety of ways. It might be coming to school when they don't want to, it might be spending extra time reading their books because they're not yet at grade level, or giving their best effort on the state test or a daily assessment. Our students are shining examples of perseverance each and every day. Thank you supporting them to finish the year strongly.

One School, One Book

Our whole school comes together to read the same book at the same time! Please don't read ahead, as we want to stay on the same schedule so the story does not get spoiled for anyone! We will continue sending you videos of one of our staff members reading a section of Dog Days, by Karen English on Monday. Each family should have received one copy of the book. Together, find a cozy spot and settle in to enjoy the novel with us. To know what we are reading, please follow the schedule outlined below. If you have any questions about it, let us know!

Math Curriculum Adoption Review Night, please come!

Kinder Connection - April 27th, 5:00 - 6:30pm

Kinder Connect is an event where we host our incoming Kindergarten students and their families. If you know of a child who lives within our school boundary, who is turning 5 before September 1st and will be ready for kindergarten, please help spread the word. It is so important that we register our incoming students to ensure we have the right staffing levels right at the start of the school year. If you have questions, give our office a call!

This Week's Schedule

In order to help you all know what the week looks like, we will list it out clearly for you each week. REID days for are invited students and will change each week. Students are invited to REID days for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's to extend or challenge a student, and other times it might be to provide extra help on a particular skill. On those days, our doors open at 7:50 and dismissal is at 10:00am. If you have questions about this week's schedule, please let. us know!

ABC Countdown

It is hard to believe that the 2022-23 school year is winding down. To continue our collective memory making opportunities we will participate in our annual ABC Countdown. Please help your child participate.

State Testing

We will begin our state testing for 4th grade students on Monday. Our 3rd and 5th graders will continue their state testing as well. We have shared with our students that this is a great opportunity to show off all they have learned and the skills that they have acquired. In order to help this process go as smoothly as possible, it is imperative that your child is here on time each day. Please also ensure your child's chromebook and charger have been returned to school. Thank you.

Did you know we offer Pre-K for 4 year olds? We have a limited number of spots available in our program. If you are interested, please select the box below to fill out an intake form. All forms must be turned in by May 12th for consideration. If we have more interest than spots, some will not be accepted. Thank you for understanding.

My School Bucks is an online payment service that provides parents the ability to securely pay for meals, monitor student cafeteria purchases, and receive email notifications for low account balances.

Please note: currently, a convenience fee of $2.75 will be applied for each transaction.
