DECEMBER BIBLE READING INVITATION CHECK IN
If you have been reading a chapter of Luke each day this month, you are in chapter 10 today.
In Luke 10 we read several familiar passages, including the parable of the Good Samaritan. Perhaps today it will serve as a good reminder of where our focus should be now and throughout the year.
In the parable of the Good Samaritan we learn about how we should care for others. Sometimes this can be hard when we have differences, but Jesus reminds us that we should show love and mercy to others.
- v27 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”
- v36-37 Which of these three, do you think, proved to be a neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers? He said, “The one who showed him mercy.” And Jesus said to him, “You go, and do likewise.”
Maybe this kind of care for our neighbor is easier during the holidays since we are already thinking about showing gratitude and giving gifts to others, but what if we truly lived by this principle every day of the year? Our everyday lives can become so busy that we often fail to see the needs, the hurting neighbor, right in front of us.
Over the past several weeks CCS students have had the opportunity to live out this principle. Through Feed the Need they learned about providing food and the gospel to people in other countries. Through Giving Hope they learned that there are people in our own community who need a helping hand too. We are praying for more opportunites as our students grow in knowledge and faith to become His servants.
Highlights from the Week
HOW TO CATCH A REINDEER
This week Mrs. Snow's JrK read the book How to Catch a Reindeer. Students thought the best way to catch one was to make reindeer food! They learned about the measurements and identified numbers on different measuring tools.
These students also had the chance to learn more about the birth of Christ along with a special snack brought by Mrs. Brittney.
PARTNERING WITH THE GIVING HOPE MINISTRY
Last week CCS students spent some time focusing on the needs of others by helping with Desperation Church's Giving Hope event.
Students in grades PK-12 donated toys and other items to be given to families in need. These gifts were prayed over by the students and teachers before delivering to the church. Upper school students assisted in setting up the event on Thursday by cleaning tables, transporting gifts from storage to the auditorium, organizing items by age and gender, and prepping toys for give away.
This was an amazing opportunity for the students to serve the community!
THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER
On Friday and Saturday night upper school students gave the audience their best as they presented The Best Christmas Pageant Ever: The Musical. This performance was filled with great singing, creative prop designs, hilarious punch lines, but most importantly, the true meaning of Christmas.
None of this would have been possible without all of the hard work and long hours put in by Mrs. Warden and Mrs. Griffin. Thank you both so very much for everything!
Congratulations to all on a job well done! We are proud of you!

ARTS COMPETITION OPPORTUNITY
As members of the Alabama Christian Education Association (ACEA) our school is invited each year to participate in the state arts and science competition. The competitions include Bible, music, speech, art, and academic divisions.
Last year we had several state winners. The registration ends when we return from Christmas break, so Mrs. Wilkins is working to find out the students that are interested and get them registered. Families will be responsible for a $10 entry fee for individual events.
See the email sent out by Mrs. Wilkins on December 8th for additional details and competition categories.
