Busy, Busy, Busy!

This week brought all sorts of fun for our wildcats! Many classes are doing the ABC countdown to the end of the year. We had animals (A), bright (B) and career(C) to name a few this week! We celebrated our amazing secretaries on Wednesday and had a special parade for our Young Athletes who are competing tomorrow!

A HUGE thanks to PTA who braved the nutty weather to hold the book fair for students! It's one of the many ways they show support for your wildcat each year. You can still get next year's membership online at: https://homewoodpta.memberhub.com/

PTA is also sponsoring our annual screen free week starting on Monday. Information on how to participate is coming home in your child's folder on Monday. Look for the yellow sheet of paper with details!

HSD 153 was the recipient of a truckload full of books from Bernie's Book Bank. Each wildcat received a green bag full wonderful books!

Next week is also National Teacher Appreciation week.

Next Friday is an early release day at 11:40 AM. If you are changing your child's normal way of going home, please call the office prior to 11:00 AM. Dismissal can be a hectic time and last minute changes are hard for everyone.

Road Resurfacing

Starting next week, the Village has resurfacing projects started. The good news is that it's several streets near Willow. The bad news is that we are still in session. Please see the map below for details.

The most impactful location for us is Highland from the cul-de-sac to 183rd. We will have to shift the buses over to not use the bus pads or be near the new concrete. PLEASE do not park back there. The street will become very tight and it's a buses only designated area already. We need all the cooperation we can get to keep our students safe.

If your bus stop is in one of the pink areas, you can walk your child down to a different stop to board the bus. If you are unsure where that might be, you can call either the Willow or District Office.

Next year's 2nd graders need a dental exam

Dear Parents of 1st grade Wildcats,

The Illinois Department of Public Health requires all students in kindergarten, 2nd and 6th grades have a dental examination. Now is the time to schedule an exam for your soon to be 2nd grader! Dental exams may be returned to the Willow office this summer or placed in the locked drop box outside of the office door.

Looking to get more involved in your student’s music education and participation? The Homewood Parent Music Association, a non-profit organization, has been supporting the outstanding music program in District 153 from pre-K to 8th grade. PMA is looking for new members and nominees for our Executive Board!
