From the Librarian
We started off this year by learning about three online libraries, which I will highlight for you below. Logins have been disbursed to most of our student population. I am still in the process of disbursing the remainder.
1) https://tinyurl.com/2p8rw6c9 This is the link to the Wilton School Library. Anyone can click on the link and browse our selection from any device with an internet connection. If patrons wish to reserve a book for themselves, they must login. All staff/students at Wilton Public School have a unique login. A person cannot read the books from this site, only reserve them. Then they may either stop in the library to pick up their reserved book or I can deliver it to their classroom.
2) https://ndlibrary2go.overdrive.com/ The Bookmobile is part of a library consortium. This link is the North Dakota Overdrive consortium. All students at Wilton Public School have a unique login. Students may browse digital items from any device with an internet connection. If they wish to checkout an item, they must login. There are thousands of eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines to choose from. All items are digital, not physical! The login is also used for Overdrive’s phone app: Libby. (Available from your phone’s Play/App Store).
3) kids.getepic.com/students This online library operates within school hours only (7 AM-3 PM, according to their website). Students login with a Class Code from Mrs. Quinn. If they have already visited this site this year, they can just click on Mrs. Quinn’s name. No need to put in a Class Code. If students try to access this site after 3 PM, it will ask for parents to subscribe. At this point, I leave it up to each family to determine if they want a subscription or not. This library has more elementary-level (rather than middle/high school level) audiobooks, eBooks, read-alouds and videos.
If students lost their logins, they should come see me and I will get them their login. As always, if students cannot find their treasured book in these libraries, they may always ask me to get it from the ND State Library.
I look forward to a great year of reading this year! Remember, the library is “Everything you can imagine!”
