MESSAGE FROM THE ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT OF DIVERSITY, EQUITY & INCLUSION
Hello CVUHSD Family,
I am excited to share that CVUHSD continues to strive to ensure we are equitable, inclusive and welcoming to ALL students, ALL families, and ALL staff. To support our goal of ensuring we have equitable, inclusive and welcoming environments, we have an equity team. The equity team includes 2 district office administrators and 4 site equity coordinators (1 at each school site). Over the past 3 years, the team has had the opportunity to conduct listening sessions with staff, students, and parents about their experiences in CVUHSD.
HAWTHORNE HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS COMPLEX GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY
On October 12th, CVUHSD held the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the state-of-the-art Hawthorne High School Athletics Complex, which will include 4 brand new turf fields for football, soccer, softball, and baseball, an eight-lane track, home and away bleachers, an LED video scoreboard, locker rooms, and an athletics training facility. Thank you to the Centinela Valley community for passing Measure SP and making this dream a reality! The Athletics Complex will contribute to the positive learning environment at Hawthorne High, and our Cougar students can't wait to wear scarlet and gold and compete on the new top of the line turf fields!

HAWTHORNE HIGH SCHOOL
LAWNDALE HIGH SCHOOL
Lawndale celebrated Homecoming with the theme of a Night in Vegas. The Homecoming Dance was a success despite the rain on that day, students danced the night away and learned to play blackjack and roulette. The excitement in the air could be felt on the dance floor and gaming room.
We are looking forward to celebrating our all star students at the upcoming Honor Roll assemblies next month on November 13th.
LEUZINGER HIGH SCHOOL
Leuzinger High school had a wonderful Homecoming weekend. Our Football team was victorious over Centennial high school Friday evening. On Saturday, October 14th we hosted a Homecoming dance with over 350 students in attendance. The students were excited to attend our Roaring 20's themed event. Our ASB did an outstanding job with all of the Homecoming details and the dance participants enjoyed delicious Italian food from Lomeli's and finished the night off with Handel's Ice cream for dessert.
LLOYDE HIGH SCHOOL
During the month of October, Mr. Orendain, the Community Schools Site Coordinator has been hard at work developing partnerships and relationships with members of our community. Mr. Orendain has been helping students register for and receive FREE TAP cards for the L.A. Metro. He has also helped coordinate a few events this month which included supporting Lloyde's Equity and Renaissance Clubs with their Hispanic Heritage Professionals Speaker Panel, as well as having the Local Carpenters Union come on campus and present to our students about carpentry and the benefits of being of being part of an union. Mr. Orendain will continue to provide opportunities for our students in the coming months including field trips to El Camino College and a field trip to the Carpenters Union training facility.
