St. Mary's Lions Letter
October 2, 2023
Dear St. Mary's Family,
Happy October! This will be an exciting month for our students, filled with both educational opportunities and fun events. We can't wait to see our students thrive and enjoy all this month has to offer!
October is the Month of the Rosary. This month is dedicated to honoring and seeking the intercession of the Blessed Mother, through the prayer of the Rosary. It is a time for increased devotion and reflection of the life of Jesus. Sr. Josephine will continue to talk about the importance of this powerful devotion during Religion classes. Please find below "6 Reasons for Teaching the Rosary to Children". This is a time for all of us to strengthen our faith and draw inspiration from the life and teachings of Christ.
Our Bazaar and Gumbo Festival is right around the corner on October 21st and 22nd! Your child will be busy practicing for his/her performance that will be held on October 22nd in the gym. Please look for a note in Tuesday's folder regarding attire for your child's performance. Also, the 3rd Early Bird drawing will be held on October 13th. Don't forget to sell your raffle tickets!
Many thanks to the Dad's Club who completed putting together the new shelves for our Montessori classrooms. On October 6th, the shelves will be installed and new Mimeo Interactive Boards will be delivered to every classroom (PK-5th grade, including ancillary classrooms). These boards will be a valuable addition to the learning experience for students that will provide a dynamic and engaging way for students to interact with educational content, including visual engagement and customized learning.
REMINDERS:

SAFE HAVEN TRAINING AND FIELD TRIPS
Our first field trip of the year for PK-5th grade will be going to Texas Oil Ranch in Hockley, Texas on Tuesday, October 31st. (Correction: PK and K will be going to Texas Oil Ranch and not Dewberry Farm this year). As a reminder, if you would like to chaperone any event, you must have completed Safe Haven training and receive a background clearance from the Archdiocese. This process takes several weeks.
