Principal Update May 15 - May 19, 2023
Hear Us Roar!
- Our younger students kicked off Track & Field Week last Monday and 4th Graders wrapped it up by participating in a variety of fun field day activities. The rain held off and families came to cheer their children on during these fun and active days. Big thanks to our PE team and volunteers who helped organize and facilitate Track & Field. Our last Track & Field Day is set for May 19 with the mighty 5th graders participating!
- The Kindergarten Advancement Ceremony was cuteness overload! Our 115 Kindergarten students sang Mr. Rogers themed songs to celebrate the end of a successful Kindergarten school year. Onwards to 1st grade!
- 1st Graders pampered their moms and caring women in their lives with a 'Spa Day' event in the cafeteria. On top of the love, hugs, and gifts, these special ladies left with moisturized skin and painted nails to name a few of the luxurious spa services on the menu.
- 3rd Graders worked hard on publishing Haiku poetry, completing data projects, and finished the novel study on Sylvia and Aki.
- Students who won the Admin for a Day as part of the Mills Adventures got to experience a slice of Principal life! They led the morning announcements, helped with school scheduling, assisted in classrooms, and answered phone calls, among other activities!
- It's harder than you think to own a food truck! 4th Grade students continue work on developing their small business. They are also deep into their Famous Texans projects to be presented at the Wax Museum on 5/22.
- Splash Day in Pre-K meant bubbles, water slides, water activities, and tons of laughter for our youngest Mountain Lions! They came to school in swimwear ready for this PreK highlight!
- 5th graders are still hard at work with enrichment projects and collaborative learning opportunities. Students have been working on a 'decades' project to present to classmates/teachers, bridges, and a business model! 58 students who read Gregor the Overlander stayed after school to engage in serious 'Super Fun Book Club' activities that involved insightful discussion, hissing cockroaches, and snacks!
- We have a Gaga pit to add to recess fun! Our 5th grade graduating class gifted the school a Gaga pit. Wonderful parent volunteers helped build the Gaga pit and the PE coaches helped teach students the rules for playing Gaga ball. Students are very excited to use it.
- 2nd Graders are deep into their ABC Countdown and the highlight this week was learning how to play Quiddtich!
