Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome back to school. We were happy to see all students and families return safely after a long summer holiday break. As I visited classrooms, the smiles on the children’s faces expressing their joy at coming back to school, filled staff with a renewed sense of our moral purpose, to ensure that all our children flourish.
We especially welcome families new to our special school. We love parents and carers popping in to say hello and our doors are always open for a chat if you have any concerns or questions. We remind you that your first point of call is to speak to your child’s classroom teacher. This can be done by making an appointment at the front office for a mutually convenient time to meet or you can simply email or send a message to your child’s teacher via Seesaw. Further details will be made available in the parent information sheet which will be published soon.
It was wonderful to see so many children turn up in our new school uniform. They looked so smart and wore their new uniform with great pride. We ask parents to please ensure that children are uniform compliant with their footwear. Your children have a choice of black or white trainers. We saw a few yellow and red trainers today which is not in fitting with our uniform. Thank you for helping us set a high uniform standard which unites us as a school community.
A gentle reminder that children should not be at school before 8.15am and that gates will close at 3.05pm. Any children not collected by that time will need to be fetched from the office. If you need to make use of after care services please see their contact details further on in this newsletter.
We encourage as many families as possible to pick their children up from the Koman Way gate. Koman Way is a quiet street and there is very little traffic. A map is provided below in this newsletter.
Fr Sam is away on holiday, so instead of having a whole school Mass on Friday at the church to commence our school year, we will have a liturgy in the undercover area at 8.45am. Families are welcome to attend.
I would like to take this opportunity at the start of this new academic year, to remind all families that our school values of excellence, service, compassion, justice, integrity and respect should always guide our interactions with one another. In line with our school motto, we must treat each other and resolve issues with gentleness and integrity as we strive to model healthy and respectful relationships to the students at our school.
