D44 Communications Hub
Communications: Where to Find Information You Need During This Challenging Time
We understand that our families are being inundated with information about all aspects of their lives during this challenging time. Therefore, we are committed to making sure you know where to go to find all the important communications related to your child's e-learning experience.
Our Remote Learning website now includes the "Communications Hub." Here you will find all district communications, listed in timeline format. We also continue to post to our own school websites.
In addition, we encourage you to follow the District 44 Facebook Page, District 44 Twitter and District 44 YouTube Channel.
What to Do if Your Device Breaks
What to Do if Your Device Breaks
If your device breaks or malfunctions….
Moving forward, should your device break, we ask that you visit the "Technology Support" button of the Remote Learning website. Here you will find helpful information to troubleshoot issues you may be experiencing. Additionally, you may complete a form if you are in need of more specific support.
Grading and Attendance
Grading will occur but, at the requirement of ISBE, at no “educational harm” to any child.
Our grading will also be focused on students being “engaged” with assignments/lessons, and students will have the opportunity to redo, make-up, or try again. This will be done through a variety of formats, such as assignments being completed, student participation on Google Hangouts, conversations with students and their families during virtual office hours, and more.
In terms of attendance, every day a student will be marked "present" unless a parent calls into the school to report that their student will not be “in attendance" that day.
Departure of GWMS Principal
While I know your children may not yet be students at GWMS, I felt it was important to share with you this news given its future impact. Current GWMS Principal Mike Fumagalli will be resigning at the end of this school year. Mr. Fumagalli has accepted a position as the Assistant Director for Teaching and Learning at Glenbard High School District 87.
While we are excited for this new opportunity, we are certainly sad for Mr. Fumagalli’s departure. He has been an asset to the leadership team and has made a tremendous impact on the students and staff at Glenn Westlake.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Fumagalli on this next step in his career. As I said earlier, we know this is a great next step for his professional journey, but we certainly will miss his ongoing contributions to GWMS and our district as a whole.
