In order to better understand the roles and responsibilities of Board candidates please review the Candidate Eligibility Requirements listed below:
Potential candidates must attend a minimum of two (2) regular CCA Board meetings during the nine (9) months prior to the April Board meeting. The March Board meeting is an eligible meeting for this requirement.
Potential candidates must interview with at least one (1) current Board member prior to the nomination form submittal deadline.
Potential candidates must agree to complete all required “Board modules” if elected. They must also agree to abide by the Code of Conduct, Duty of Care and Loyalty and Conflict of Interests policies.

CCA staff members and spouses of CCA staff members are not allowed to run for the CCA Board.
Only one parent or legal guardian per family may serve on the CCA Board at the same time.
In order to be eligible to run for the CCA Board, candidates must have at least one student who is returning to CCA for the upcoming school year.
In order to be eligible to run for the CCA Board, candidates must have completed and have documented (under their own unique volunteer account through the current CCA volunteer hours’ database) at least 50% of their annual volunteer hours (20 of 40 hours per family, or 10 of 20 hours per single parent) by the time of nomination.
For more details about the Election process, please click here to view the Board Election Policy.
The Election will be held by an electronic ballot. A unique and confidential electronic ballot will be sent to the email address listed in PowerSchool for each parent/guardian.
Due to an update in Powerschool in the District, the only way for you to change your email addresses and phone numbers as of right now is to contact the school and have us change them manually. This is crucial to know with an election coming up as the ballot is only delivered to the emails on file in Powerschool. If you would like to change your email address please fill out this quick form or if you have any questions please feel free to email Rachel Brooks at rbrooks@cherrycreekacademy.org. Please update your email address in PowerSchool by May 3, 2022.
If you have questions about the election, please email the Election Committee at election@cherrycreekacademy.org.

Student Council - Ukraine Donations
I am kind. I treat others with care and empathy. I do my best to make everyone in the community feel valued.
Almost all of us are aware of and have seen some of the horrific images from the war in Ukraine.
This war has affected millions upon millions of people, including students like us. Many of them have had their homes and schools destroyed and they are in need of our support.
Beginning March 25th the CCA Student Council will partner with Ukrainians of Colorado to collect various items in order to support children and students affected by the war. Items to be collected include: used blankets and toys, children's over the counter medicines (for diarrhea/gas relief, Tylenol and cough syrup), and hygiene products such as soaps, toothbrushes and toothpaste, diapers, and foods such as non-perishable foods like cereals and baby formula.
You may drop these donations off in the morning in the CCA lobby or on the sidewalk by the front parking lot from March 25th - April 1st, 2022.
Eagles, let’s demonstrate compassion by helping students in Ukraine during their time of need.
8th Grade Parents...We Still Need Pictures!

Special Guest Teachers Observing Last Week
Last week we were fortunate enough to have some guest teachers from the French American School of Denver observing and working with some of our teachers. I was fortunate to steal some time away from one of the Kindergarten teachers, Agnes, to ask her a couple of questions about her experience before coming here and what she was learning by observing CCA. Agnes told me she was a teacher in a small town of Ugine in France where she taught in one building with students ranging from age 3-10. She comes to the US with 20 years of experience in France and is excited to be working at the French American School of Denver. At CCA she had never experienced such things as a therapy dog, such large colorful classrooms and nice facilities, and such well behaved, quiet children that were working at such a quick pace. Agnes said she would take with her the types of discipline we use in America, especially the positive reinforcement. Agnes was observing in Mrs. Goodwin's class on Tuesday, but we had several other teachers observing: Helene with Mrs. Miller, Christel with Ms. Tapper, Marie with Ms. Nygard, and Stephanie with Mrs. Gearke. It was such a pleasure to host teachers from another charter school and allow them to observe since their model is so different from ours. If you are interested in checking out the school they were from you can do so by clicking here. Thank you again to the French American School for sharing your teachers with us for a few days!

Hopefully you were able to join us for the wonderful Multicultural Festival this past Friday. It was so much fun and had such a wonderful turnout. We are so lucky to go to a school with so much culture - where we can celebrate one another. Thank you to everyone who came and thank you to the PTO and Erin Pak for all of their hard work making it possible.

Flag Football is here!
Here is a link to some general information about the upcoming season. Our games will mostly be held Fridays after school. Our practice schedule will be limited due to our girls' soccer season, which impacts our field access. We will meet for our first practice of the year this coming Monday, March 28th. Practice will be on the CCA field from 3:30-4:45 pm. The goal of the season is to have fun, work on technical skills for those students wishing to pursue football in the future, and use this season as a test to see if we can bring flag football to CCA in a larger capacity. Thank you all again! Looking forward to the season and having football at CCA.

New Volunteer Process
New Colorado legislation has prompted greater need to screen and document volunteers in our schools. Therefore, beginning January 2022, we must ensure that every person entering CCA must have a CCA staff badge or a visitor badge printed from the Raptor System. Please be sure to have your identification on you so that you can share that with Ms. Sadie if you need to enter CCA. Using the raptor system Ms. Sadie will then print a Raptor ID badge for you.
CCSD is also requiring that every volunteer complete a brief application to support activities in CCSD schools. This application links directly to CCSD's raptor system.
To access the new form, please click on the following link: https://apps.raptortech.com/Apply/NzU0OmVuLVVT
