Where Excellence is the Tradition
Having health insurance is critical for our children to thrive at school. There are free and low-cost health coverage options available through Medicaid and Hawki which include coverage for medical, dental, immunizations, prescriptions, mental health services and more. You can have a regular doctor for your child and be protected from unexpected accidents and illness. Many working families qualify; children and teens in a family of 4 earning up to $80,030 may qualify for Hawki. And don’t forget, if your child is already enrolled in these programs, it’s important to renew their coverage every year so they can get the care they need when they need it. The Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) can assist with in-person application assistance for families with children through presumptive eligibility. You may contact your local Hawki Outreach Coordinator at 563-556-6200 or for more information go to https://dhs.iowa.gov/hawki or call 1-800-257-8563.

CRHS School Play Update
Rehearsals are beginning on October 4 for this year's high school fall play. Based on Jane Austen’s novel Pride and Prejudice and dramatized by Claudia Haas, this year’s production will feature an extensive cast and a trip back in time to Regency England, where you will observe the characters experience “romance, love, rivalry, friendship, and the many foibles and delights of family.
Three roles for females--one important character and two minor characters--remain available for anyone interested in participating in the play. Contact Mrs. White to audition.

Butterflies Galore
5th graders have monarch butterflies emerging! Mrs. Stannard fed them this morning and most ate well. You can see in the pictures which one has his proboscis in the nectar and which one doesn’t. It’s like a straw the butterfly uses to suck up food. We will have several come this weekend! This week students were able to use microscopes to see butterfly wing scales and check for diseases. Exciting events in 5th Grade!
Lynne Campbell came back on September 30 to wrap up our butterfly rearing project. We ventured over to the Butterfly Waystation the Class of 2028 planted last year and collected seeds to plant in the spring. We enjoyed some nature time and even found other exciting things.
A Trip to the Quarry
Clayton Ridge third grade toured Bard Rock Quarry near Edgewood on Sep 29 as part of their rock unit. Thank you, Ben Schroeder, for an amazing tour!
