Dear St. Anne Parents,

All year long our teachers, staff, students, and you, our parents, have been trying to keep our everyday activities as "normal" as possible. Our SAPTO board has been very busy trying to do the same with regards to our fundraising activities. In today's newsletter you will see that we will hold our annual 5K Walk A Thon on May 14. Obviously, the event will look a little different than in past years, but our students will still be walking to Golden Gate Park, receiving a 2021 5K Walk tee shirt, and receiving a prepackaged treat at the end of their walk. Since we only hold two fundraisers each year, we felt it was important to hold this event this year keeping in place all the health and safety guidelines. Please read over the information in the 5K Walk packet found in this newsletter and share it with your family members, neighbors and friends. All the funds raised go back into our school's programs. Let's see if we can't make this year's 5K Walk the most successful ever! Together, we can MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!!

Save the date! Our annual 5K Walk-a-thon is back and will be held on Friday, May 14th. The packet is available and can be downloaded via the newsletter or from the school website at (www.stanne.com). In the packet you will find all the information pertaining to this fun-filled event.

Key dates for fabulous prizes:

April 5: All participants who submit a t-shirt design by this date will receive a homework pass

April 5: Register and enter 10 names into Pledgestar to receive a free dress pass

April 19: Early birds who meet this year's goal and submit donations by this date will receive a homework pass

May 14: Deadline for match gifts to arrive; submit match requests ASAP to ensure your employer has time to process and send payments to St. Anne to receive a homework pass

I sent out a request for all families to fill out a Catholic Identity Survey March 11, and a reminder earlier this week. Again I ask all parents who have not yet filled this out to please take a few minutes to do so. Catholic Identity relates to many critical aspects of our school. Please note that the survey is not long but it does have two parts and we ask that you complete them both. The survey will be closed to responses on Friday afternoon. The links are below and on the Virtual Envelope page of our website.

Next Thursday, April 1, is a 12:30 dismissal. Please make note of this pick-up time. Easter Vacation extends from Friday, April 2, through Friday, April 9. School resumes Monday, April 12.

Friday, March 26 is the end of the 3rd quarter. The MSP portal has closed. Report cards will be out Wednesday, March 31.

After much thought, I have decided not to offer a summer program this year. We all know how challenging this year has been for everyone. Our teachers have gone above and beyond for their students. I would like to give them a break over the summer. With a little R and R everyone will be starting off our new year with renewed energy and enthusiasm. I know this announcement will be disappointing to many of you, but I know that you can understand why I needed to make this decision. Thanks for your understanding.

Dear Parents,

As incidences of hate against American Asians and Pacific Islander descent are on the rise, we're happy to see so much support from the President down to our Mayor, the local Police and from members of our diverse community. It's great to see Latin Americans, Black Americans, White Americans all standing together with Asian & Pacific Island Americans in rallies. I know how it feels when one is mocked and no one stands with you. That happened to me in Junior High. But I also remember feeling included and accepted after 9/11, when I was in line waiting to board a plane. A fellow passenger shared some safety tips while traveling abroad and after I thanked him, he said we're all Americans and we have to watch out for each other. That meant so much to me that he, as a Caucasian, fully accepted me, an Asian, as an American. Although I naturally think of myself as an American, but to be accepted by someone outside of my community felt very good. So as our civil authorities do what they do to ensure that no one is a victim of a hate crime, on our part, we can be good neighbors to each other. We can keep an eye out for each other. We can speak out when we see something wrong. We can stand with and affirm each other because we're all Americans.

Recently there have been a number of garage break-ins in the Sunset. All the incidents are happening in the middle of the night. It turns out the thief can break into a garage (almost soundlessly) in under 10 seconds by drilling a half inch hole.

These are some of the projects our junior high students created this week as part of the Parish Lenten activities program.

The Girl Scouts present opportunities for girls kindergarten through eighth grade to pursue interests individually and with others. Now, girls can participate both live and virtually. See the flyer for more information about joining.

Despite the present difficult circumstances, we will be having a yearbook as in other years. The content will be a little different than usual with limited activities but it is a year to be remembered. It can be ordered through Beverly Perea for $30. Download the form and send it to school with your child. If you are doing Distance Learning, you can mail it to the school with your check or drop it off on the bookshelf at the top of the stairs at the main entrance to the school.

If you have a child who will be starting Kindergarten next year, please fill out his/her application and send it to Mrs. Finnegan as soon as possible.
