ALERT: Parent/Teacher Conferences: Thurs. eve Oct. 12 & Fri. morning Oct. 13
Parent/Teacher Conferences - No appointments needed. Teachers will be seated by departments on the main level hallways and in the Commons on ground level. These are drop in, limited time opportunities to connect with teachers and counselors.

Friday, October 13 - 7:30-9:30 AM (No School for Students on Friday)

Freshmen Tailgate TONIGHT! - Friday, Sept. 29th
Come join the fun at our annual Freshmen Tailgate! It’s a night of music, food, and football... and over 300-400 ninth graders!
STUDENT ID'S REQUIRED FOR ENTRANCE!
Date: Friday, September 29th
Time: 5:45-6:45 (right before the varsity football game!)
Location: At EHS, right outside the football stadium.
Cost: $5 (you can pay right now through MyPaymentsPlus) A ticket to the game for students is $5 - so this is a great offer!
Theme for the night is USA, so don't forget to wear red, white and blue!
Your $5 ticket and your EHS Student ID card, will get you into the game, plus a hotdog, chips, dessert, and water. It’s sure to be an exciting night, so get your tickets now!

Please be aware of some important announcements related to safety and security at the event:
- Online Ticket Sales are encouraged. Purchase tickets HERE. Ticket prices are $5 for all K-12 students, $7 for Adults and Senior Citizens. Age 62+ are admitted free.
- There is NO RE-ENTRY. Once you leave the game you will not be admitted back in.
- Eagan High Students need to purchase a ticket and show their ID for entry at the student gate.
- No one will be allowed into the game after half time.
- No outside food/beverage will be allowed in the facility. All backpacks/bags/purses are subject to search upon entry.
- Students younger than high school age will need a ticket and must be accompanied by a parent/guardian/adult caretaker who is responsible for them for the duration of their time in the stadium.
- No large group gatherings or other behaviors not appropriate for a large school event attended by thousands of community members of all ages young and old will be tolerated.
- We ask that fans stay on the respective sides of the stadium. Eagan fans must remain on the home side of the stadium and our visiting fans should remain on the visiting side of the stadium other than to get to the concession stand.

If students did not get a photo taken on August 31st - or the photo is not satisfactory, they need to be sure to get a photo taken on MONDAY, October 2nd. This photo will be used for the Yearbook and on CAMPUS site as well as ID cards for all students.
Retakes and Returns:
If an order was placed before original picture day but the student missed it, there is no need to order again. If they have not yet ordered, they should use This Code.
Anyone needing a retake picture who has already been photographed should return their original picture package to the photographer.FALL PLAY PERFORMANCES -NEXT WEEK!
Fall Play Ticket Sales Now Open!
A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy play written by William Shakespeare. The play is set in Athens, and consists of several subplots that revolve around the marriage of Theseus and Hippolyta. One subplot involves a conflict among four Athenian lovers. Another follows a group of six amateur actors rehearsing the play which they are to perform before the wedding. Both groups find themselves in a forest inhabited by fairies who manipulate the humans and are engaged in their own domestic intrigue. The play is one of Shakespeare's most popular and is widely performed.

College Fair- Parents of Juniors and Seniors
The 2023 Minnesota National College Fair will be held at the Minneapolis Convention Center on October 4 & 5, 2023. Juniors and Seniors will be allowed to attend, with parent permission, during the morning on WEDNESDAY, October 4 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon.
Youth in Government Interest Meetings October 2 and 3
Planning has begun to organize and train students for the 2023-24 Youth in Government program at Eagan HS. This organization focuses on student leadership and empowerment as they enter into mock legislative programs at the State Capital in January. Interest meetings are open to all students: October 2nd 7:15 AM and 2:30 PM. Also October 3rd at the same times. ROOM 113
Eagan HS Speech and Debate Honored National Ranking!
The National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) has honored EHS as a Pinnacle Club (Top 100 program out of 3000 programs) in the nation. Eagan HS ranks 9th in this group of Top 100. This is based on student members and degrees and coach/advisor degrees at the conclusion of each school year.
Eric Li, Class of 2023 has earned recognition as an All American which is the Top 25 Speech and Debate students who are NSDA members and earned the most points out of the 140,000 student members. Eric is the only Minnesota student in this prestigious group. Congratulations Eric!!
OFFICIAL MCA TEST RESULTS RETURNED
Over the next week we will hand back about 1500 MCA test results from last year. Most students already know their score from classroom teachers last spring, but these are the official forms. Students will be called down during their PAWS class.
Work Opportunity with High School Students
The EHS AVID program is looking to hire one additional AVID tutor.
We are seeking adults (18+) to work with high school students four mornings a week. This might include current college students, retirees, or anyone who has a desire to work with students directly.
Hours: Mondays-Thursdays; 7:30-9:30 AM
Pay: About $18 an hour
Duration: 2023-24 school year (and possibly following years)
AVID students engage in tutorials during the AVID class hour. The role of the adult tutor is to be a group facilitator who helps guide the students through their confusion and help them help one another. The tutor does not need to be an expert in a given field of study. New tutors will be provided online AVID training.

District 196 Foundation Board Seeking Student Directors
The District 196 Foundation is extremely interested in adding students directors to their Board of Directors. The Board meets 6-8pm, the second Tuesday of every other month (February, April, June, August, October, December). Homecoming Week Information
EAGAN WILDCATS HOMECOMING WEEK
One of the highlights of Fall Trimester is "Homecoming Week”, which includes the Homecoming Varsity Football Game vs. Forest Lake H.S. on Friday, October 13th at 7:00 p.m., and the Semi-formal Dance on Saturday, October 14th from 8:00-11:00 p.m. in the Gym. Freshmen are encouraged to participate! No "dates" are required for the Homecoming Dance. Admission is charged at the door and student ID's are shown for admission. Guest registration is now open - all guests must be high school students and under age 21. (see the info about Guest sign up below in this newsletter).
Other Homecoming activities throughout the week:

- October 11, 6-9 PM - Dodgeball Tournament - All Gyms

Homecoming Dance 2023 - Guest Registration
The 2023 Homecoming Dance is Saturday October 14th. If you are bringing a non-EHS student to the dance you must fill out a guest form by Tuesday October 10th at 3pm. Please use this QR code to access the GoogleForm to register your guest. You can find the QR code on the TV’s, Eagan High School Website and on posters thru-out school. You can also click this link: Link to form. If you are bringing a guest that is under the age of 21, but NOT a high school student, see Ms. Gouette in the main office for a paper form. Any questions see Mr. Kovach.
Homecoming Dress-up Days
- Mon 10/9: BBQ Dads and Soccer Moms Day (a google search will give many fun ideas!)
- Tue 10/10: Jeans and/or Jersey Day (wear one or both!)
- Wed 10/11: Barbenheimer Day (Dress up as a Barbie or Ken for Barbie or in a suit and tie or old school dress (from the 40s and 50s) for Oppenheimer)
- Thu 10/12: Eagan Out Day (School colors and Homecoming t shirts)
- Fri 10/13: NO SCHOOL for students
- Mon: 10/16: PJ Day! (who doesn’t love a casual Monday!!)
Friday, October 6 No School for Students - Teacher Professional Development
Reminder - No school for students on Friday, October 6th! The entire day is used for Teacher Curriculum work and work in departments for planning.
ATTENDANCE/ABSENCE NOTIFICATION
To report a student absence:
1. Parents/guardians are requested to call the Eagan High School Attendance Voice Mail (651-683-6915) before noon each day their student is absent. This Voice mail is open 24 hours per day.
2. You can also reach Attendance at 651-683-6911 from 7 AM - 3 PM.
3. Please include the following information when calling:
• Your name and relationship to your student.
• Your absent student’s name and grade.
• Day (Monday-Friday) and date of absence.
• Reason for absence.
• A daytime phone number where you may be reached which allows us to verify your call, if needed.
Sample Message: “This is John Doe, father of Mike Doe, grade 10. Mike will be absent Monday, September 18, because of illness. I can be reached at my work number 111-111-1111 during the day.

*Grade/Pass Option Form. Students can only sign-up for one class as G/P for the trimester. To earn credit, students must get to a passing mark of at least 60% and may be required to complete all essential learnings as outlined by the instructor.

Looking for a Student Planner for the School Year?
We have have Student Planners for sale at the Attendance Office window. 9th graders all received one in their Science class. However, we have more available. The cost is $5 per planner - either cash or a check payable to EHS.
School Supplies Available for EHS Students in Need
If your student needs supplies, please send them to the Counseling Office. We have supplies including notebooks, pens, pencils, padlocks for gym lockers, pocket folders, graphing paper, index notecards and more. We also have new backpacks!
Adult Volunteers Needed!
Yes, we need volunteers! If any parent/guardian is interested in volunteering at EHS - even if it is only occasionally - we can use your help!
