May 27, 2022
A Message from Ms. Santa
Memorial Day Celebration
Our CDW Band will be performing in this year's Old Tappan Memorial Day Parade. This is a great CDW tradition and the only time 5th through 8th grade band students perform together. The Memorial Day Parade begins at the back of NVOT promptly at 9:00 AM and concludes at Oakes Park on Central Avenue at approximately 10:00 AM for the Memorial Day Ceremony.
In the event of inclement weather, the Fire Department siren will be sounded at 8:15 AM, advising that the Parade is canceled. In that event, the Memorial Day Ceremony will be held in the Charles DeWolf School Gym at 9:30 AM.
At the bottom of each CDW Weekly Wrap-Up are upcoming, important dates!

Reminders and Updates from CDW's Student Manager
Spring Sports Update!
Baseball
Yesterday the Knights' baseball team knocked off undefeated Closter 9-5 in a great team win. The Knights played stellar defense behind strong pitching performances from Cayden Yoon, Zach Miller and Joey Crescitelli. The bats also stayed red hot with big hits coming from Thomas Collins and Dylan Kim. Special shoutout to the Knights' managers, Nina Caunedo and Sadie Murphy, for helping the Knights continue their winning streak.
Softball
The CDW Softball Team defeated Harrington Park in a hard fought game 7-4 on Tuesday, May 24th. Every girl stepped up and played a big role in winning the game. Giselle Conway had two perfect bunt singles and stole over 6 bases. The Ella Ferrara and Leah Savino dynamic duo pitched and caught their best game of the season allowing only a few runs over five innings! All of the girls played heads up on the bases and were able to score big runs. Big time shout out to Bailey West and Ava Richards on their first game and helping the team win! Special thanks to the managers Finley Zimmerman and Reagan Tama! The girls are now 6-0 on the season.
The girls softball team won their final game of the season beating Closter in an epic 2-1 game. Ella Ferraro pitched her best game of the season allowing no earned runs over 5 innings! Lea Savino caught the best game of her season making great defense stops and throwing out a runner. Captain Sophia Savino got a clutch hit late in the game and scored a crucial run to take the lead. The defense played a great game and made big plays to hold Closter to 1 run. The girls finished the season undefeated and number 1 in the league. In what could be the final game, Coach Gianetti congratulates 8th graders Lauren Shehdanian, Erin Collins, Nicole Carbone, Regan Garrity, Ava Hull, Giselle Conway, Nicollete Cialdella, and Sophia Savino on an unforgettable season. Special thanks to manager Finley Zimmerman!

Volunteers play a huge part in the PTO, and what they are able to offer our students and teachers. Without volunteers, many of the programs that students, teachers, and families enjoy will not be able to happen. Volunteer descriptions can be found at: OTPTO.org under "More Info" and then "Flyers."
If you have interest in joining the PTO Board, joining or running a committee, or just want to learn more- please reach out to the PTO by visiting OTPTO.org and selecting "Contact Old Tappan PTO" under the Help tab.
