Croquet Tournament
Sunday, August 18th in Downing Park, Newburgh
A Day of Croquet Play
No need to know how to play - instructions as well as equipment will be provided.
There will be old-timey music, historical games, and light refreshments. Participants and spectators are also encouraged to bring their own picnics.
T-shirt sales, a bake sale, and raffles for prizes will benefit community groups involved.
Newburgh Historical Society to Host Croquet Tournament
The Newburgh Historical Society challenges the Beacon Historical Society to a West Shore vs. East Shore game. Where do your loyalties lie – Newburgh, Fishkill, Kingston, Beacon, New Paltz or Poughkeepsie areas? Choose a side and join the action in this friendly game in the park.
City of Newburgh Mayor Judy Kennedy hopes to lead the West Shore to victory as team captain, and a “challenge” has been issued to the City of Beacon Mayor Randy Casale to grab a win for the East Shore team.
Show your team spirit by wearing something representing what you love about the history of your community. Or, sport a Gibson girl look for a little historical fun. The winners get their names emblazoned on a trophy. The losers go home with heavy hearts.
The event is co-presented with the Downing Park Planning Committee and the Newburgh Preservation Association.
