Vine Middle Magnet School

The school year is over one quarter over already. Your students and our staff have been working hard to gain mastery of learning, expectations, and middle school in general!

We are continually striving to increase the Challenge in classrooms and leverage our Connections with stakeholders and the Community to make a better Vine.

We are making progress and are grateful for your input and support. Please take the opportunities to support Vine outlined in this newsletter. Also follow our Webpage (undergoing reconstruction), our Twitter feed and our Facebook page for more information about upcoming events at the school.

We need YOU to be successful.

We are starting a new process of stakeholder input in the form of Focus Groups. A Focus Group is a demographically diverse group of people assembled to participate in a guided discussion about a particular topic, or to provide ongoing feedback on an issue, institution, etc.

The initial Parent Focus Groups on Wednesday, 8/21 were a bright point. It was so good to see and talk with parents who are committed to diversity, restoration, learning and growth. It was also very good to talk with adults who are looking for ways to support Vine Middle School.

Each month we will have an item of the month to collect supplies for the school. Feel free to drop items off in the main office. The item needed at this time is Clorox wipes! Feel free to drop off any donations outside of the main office.

Stop by on the way to or after the Vine vs. West Valley Game on 11/14 to have some good eats and support Vine PTSA.

Thank you to the 30+ community members who supported our annual career fair in October. If you would like to be a vendor for next year please reach out to Terreka Holloway at tholloway@projectgradknoxville.org.

Thank you for your attendance at the Chorus Concert on October 22nd. It was a great showcase of student ability and talent. Please continue to support our program.

Thank you for your support of and attendance at our Band Concert on October 29th. It was a great day for students to demonstrate what they have learned.

Thank you to the parents and students who showed up to our Saturday work day! We were able to create hundreds of sketch books, clean out two science closets, make 1500 copies, and create a bulletin board!

Thank you to everyone who came out for Family Literacy Night on October 17th! We had a great turnout. No small thanks to Ms. Angela Roberts, Vine's very own Librarian, Dr. Rich McKinney, Ms. Kendra Berry, and all other staff who assisted.

The success of the night would not have been possible without the generous help of the Knox County Public library, the Muse and other Community Partners who offered hands on experiences for our community.
